What is your mortgage rate since the return of ASB is approximately 6.5% only?

Already call CIMB, they haven't received my letter from the branch yet after surrender my card for 2 weeks  vmad.gif  mad.gif
I don't want to wait for last minutes, next week keep contact them  blush.gif
*
That's the problem. The branch has received your cancellation request form and might have cut the cc in front of you, but the card centre has not processed it yet. This also happens to MBB, as I witnessed tons of yet-to-be-processed cancellation request forms snowballed since last month on the desk of a CS officer in one of the MBB branches in PJ. Your CIMB cc can only be confirmed CANCELLED when CIMB card centre has processed your request and terminate the cc OFFICIALLY. Otherwise, you still own the account. Good luck. smile.gif

When cancelling credit card, can we request for black & white from bank that we have canceled their card on that day? I know HLB did provide a copy of cancellation form. But for Alliance and CIMB they do not provide any black & white of CC cancellation...
I had cancelled my Alliance, DA (CIMB) and HLB CCs before, which happened in Oct'08, March'09 and July'09 respectively. I received confirmation letters from all the above banks upon request.

i was thinking, lets say if we being ignorant and wouldnt mind paying the sales and service tax of RM50, in which resulted good revenue for the government. so, whats stopping them from increasing it the following year or maybe few years later? well, that is just my own thinking.

A very specific minority groups' pockets will become thicker and thicker.

QUOTE(MilesAndMore @ Dec 10 2009, 12:49 AM)
Should be no less than 7% per annum, based on the dividend declared in the last 10 years. Bonus in not included yet.

Someone from Maybank and CIMB Bank did approach me and my mom before, when we went to collect our newly approved credit cards last time. I think they told us the rate is fixed at 5%+ per annum. This was in early 2008 though.
*
During good times, getting dividend of 7%-8% is not uncommon. I don't think the dividend will be more than 7% this year! Let say the dividend is 6.5% and your mortgage rate is fixed at 5.0%, it should be a good bet for ASB solely given to Bumipteras as you can just sit and wait for the extra income without giving any upfront.

Anyway, since most of the shares prices have rebounded, i assume the return won't be so bad and a total return of no less than 9% shouldn't be a dream. We shall find out next week  smile.gif

As for the loan, i still have my reservation on the loan ... still not sure if it is a good idea to take up the offer. But then that is not something i need to worry about  biggrin.gif
*
9% this year? You must be dreaming! Just look at what you get for other AS products. If they really 9% for ASB this year, it will be too obvious that they purposely help the so called indigenous people.

You don't worry about the loan and I totally understand what you mean. biggrin.gif

Take this opportunity to cancel those CCs give you problems. Btw, in terms of cash rebate, Alliance Gold cc isn't as great as Alliance Plat and Yonique CCs.

I guess next week will be the last chance to do cc cancellation, as most banks need time to process the requests and normally lots of staff will be on leave during year-end holidays.

I am also having Alliance Visa Plat which gives a similar rebate rate. In fact, Younique used to be a backup to my Alliance Plat in the event that the monthly cash back of my Alliance Plat has reached the max rebate of RM68.75.

With this, now I have 1 MC - SCB JustOne Titanium, 1 Visa - Alliance Visa Plat, and 1 Amex - Amex Gold cc. My initial plan was to cancel Amex Gold cc too, but the current 15% cash back promotion creates a U-turn for me. biggrin.gif

how to cancel citibank card? fax? or call?
*
For Citibank, cc cancellation can be done via a phone call.

QUOTE(dantwt @ Dec 14 2009, 08:54 PM)
I just talked to HSBC and Citibank CC advisors. Both also told me that the service tax will only be imposed for those who applied/activate their CCs after Jan 1, 2010. Those CC users before 2010 will not be imposed of such charges. Also, if this service tax were to be implemented, BNM will have to give at least 12mths transition period prior to executing the act, thus on 2011 only.

Those terminating their CCs might just wanna wait a little while longer though.
*
That's so funny and it makes me laugh! biggrin.gif Those people are not liable to compensate you if you are charged the service tax immediately on 1/1/10 or on the card anniversary date next year. Btw, there are lots of cc sales agents and CS officers but there are no "cc advisors". tongue.gif

Terminating cc over phone or fax doesn't mean that the card is OFFICIALLY cancelled. You still need to follow up with the bank and monitor the status closely, especially when dealing with those "efficient" banks. biggrin.gif

hey tumpang sikit, is there anyway to waive the standard chartered visa infinite cc annual fee of RM800?
*
It was (/is) FOC for first year. But I am not sure whether SCB still issues normal VI to those who are not PB customers. AF waiver request for second year onwards is however subject to the bank's approval.

QUOTE(MilesAndMore @ Dec 17 2009, 12:36 AM)
A good news indeed. Haven't heard anything from HSBC. Probably will give them a buzz the first thing tomorrow morning.
*
It still doesn't solve the dilemma. You only delay the decision on cc cancellation. However, it does help to a certain extent. For instance, some Amex cardholders may consider to cancel their cards when the 15% cash back promotion ends in Feb 2010 or after they receive their cash back entitlement, if their card anniversary months fall after the promotion period.

On a different note, you must be very HAPPY with your so-called ANTICIPATED NO LESS THAN 9% RETURN? biggrin.gif Anyway, you should consider yourself LUCKY. tongue.gif

Banks don't want to absorb the service tax. Isn't tomorrow a public holiday? You are losing another week. wish.gif

Btw, I wrote to Alliance Bank to cancel my Younique MC on Monday. Yesterday I received a call from Alliance confirming that the card was cancelled, and the CS officer did not even persuade me to stay on. Just now I double-checked the status by calling Alliance CS and I was given a confirmation that the card has been cancelled. A confirmation letter will be sent to me. hands.gif

Maybank not absorbing RM50 credit card service tax

Written by Siti Sakinah Abdul Latif
Thursday, 17 December 2009 19:32

KUALA LUMPUR: MALAYAN BANKING BHD will not be absorbing the RM50 credit-card service tax as doing so would run counter to the objective of the measure's introduction under  Budget 2010, says the bank's CEO Datuk Seri Abdul Wahid Omar.

Asked if the bank was seeing any reduction in the number of credit-card holders, Lim Hong Tat, Maybank's head of consumer banking said, "Not much reduction has been seen." He added that it was "still within control" and that the impact would become clearer in the next few months.

One dilemma though .. for my Maybank Amex . The recent 15% cashback promo - I think I should have qualified for at least RM100 of cashback .... but this can't be confirmed yet and even if yes - it won't be credited back into my account until end of promo - Feb 2010.

So smart of them .........
*
If you think you can get at least RM100 cash back after Feb 2010, then you should keep the card and thereafter cancel it soon after you receive the cash back.

My friend Citibank "CLASSIC" credit card users for 3 month.
Payment good auto upgrade limit. No question ask.
They called him and give him a special promotion on a loan of 9k with lowest interest rate that pay back on his credit card monthly.

I'm amazed. MBF credit card. NEVER GOT ANY GOOD BENEFIT CALL FROM THEM EXCEPT LATE PAYMENT!
If I don't get a good reply later, I'm going to cut it and change to Citibank.
*
It is the right time to choose a good card that suits you most, as banks are throwing freebies and promotions to attract customers in view of the declining numbers of cards.

Btw, don't get trapped in easy money such as Personal Loan or Overdraft offered by banks.

I don't know why bank wants to encourage us to take loan.

Some one called me: "We borrow you 11k, you can use it for business, whatever, no need to sign agreement also, just approved through phone."

That is what my standard answer: "Sorry, we don't need it."

I think borrowing is easy, but repaying back is so tough. I never take the instalment loan anymore after I paid 18 months of about RM150, feel like so long. Then I decided that I should just pay using cash.

Commercial banks nowadays are professional loan sharks. ph34r.gif I have been annoyed by the loan shark HLB who calls me almost very month offering pre-approved PL. It has become even more aggressive recently taking into consideration that I have nearly settled entirely my existing home loan with HLB.
