I ask them to wait untill decision by BNM/FMB is out but they don want..wow, they can just easily offset the amount from ur saving a/c to settle the outstanding bill... now i start to doubt about all my deposit in their bank..

WTA.. if i pay them all outstanding, then if FMB comes out that i only had to pay certain or nothing...would they (MBB) reimburse me back.. I'm worried they won't follow it bcause FMB is only like independent body..not really a judicial body..maybe MBB will ask me to brought the case to court furthermore..
*
It's outrageous! How dare MBB directly deducted money from your savings account! You must complain and fight for your rights, and demand compensation for interest loss.

own chosen picture for cc sounds cool and novel, i'd give it a try and i'm not waiting bank's statement regarding service tax i think its fine if u only have 2-3 cards.

If you really want to apply for Alliance Younique MC now, I suggest you to submit your application online so that you will be entitled to 10,000 points upon cc approval. tongue.gif

I made a USD transaction via online on 13/11/2009. I charged this to my SCB JustOne card. When using the RM equivalent in the statement and divided it by the USD I charged, the exchange rate works out to be 3.44824
This exchange rate probably already inclusive of admin fee. So.. maybe somebody is smart enough to figure out the % admin fee based on the info I have.
*
I had done an experiment before. I used my Alliance and SCB to pay a hotel bill, while my colleague paid his bill using HSBC and DA (CIMB). All transactions were done in the same hotel and same time. When our cc statements came, conversion rate from Alliance was the lowest. On the contrary, SCB charged the highest rate.

im charge my CC for Hotel for my friend stay in hotel.

the hotel required me to photocopy front n back of the credit card, is it i can blank my 3 digit security code???
*
I wonder what the hell they wanted to have a copy of your cc. If I were you, I won't let them photostat my cc except passport. I would only let them photostat the front page only if they insist on having it. Normally hotel will only swipe your cc and block a certain amount during check-in.

updated from CS, they now only required me to fill in the 16 digits number in the form, tht's all.
*
That should be the correct way, giving cc number will be good enough.

If you've bought MAS airtickets for other people using your credit card, it's the same procedure - you need to bring a photocopy during check-in just in case of changes.
*
I always bought air tickets online for my dad using my cc and MAS has never asked for a copy of my cc.

It would be better if you could personally ask Alliance CS about the procedure and eligibility for the 10k reward points. smile.gif

You may give SCB a try, if it is convenient for you.

How did you cancel yours?  When I call up, they said I can't cancel it within the first year.  What can I do?
*
There is no such rule saying that you cannot cancel the card. I suggest you should write to SCB for card cancellation, and request a confirmation letter from SCB. Everything should be in black and white in order to minimise dispute later.

but hsbc cc like no rebate, no tie up with petrol station wor..  rebate is my main target cos every month spend quite a lot
*
If cash rebate is your main concern, then go for Alliance Younique or DA. Depending on your income stability and credit exposure, sometimes Alliance Younique could be quite strict to first timer.

However, there is no hurry to apply for a cc now. You should wait till 1-1-10 to get a clearer picture on the service tax issue. When approaching 1-1-10, you can probably know which banks will be able to reimburse the service tax (if banks are willing to do so) and which banks will throw in more freebies or incentives to attract customers. It is a buyers market now and customers will definitely be spoilt for choices that time.

correct me if im wrong, all credit card also got limit on cash back right?
i check the you nique website, like rocket science, got tier. so u spend 2k for example, some go tier 1, leftover to tier 2 then the next tier so on. means we wont get 2% rebate on all charge.
nothing bad will happen right if i always pay on time?
*
Most of the cash rebate cards have rebate limits. For example, cash back for Alliance Younique card is based on tiered system, up to a maximum rebate of RM68.25 per month, or 1.365%. Meanwhile, maximum cash rebate per month for Alliance Platinum is RM68.75 or 1.375%. Petrol purchases are also entitled to cash rebate. On top of the cash back, you can also get 1x reward point for every RM1 spent locally and overseas. For Alliance Platinum, you get another additional 1x reward point for every RM1 spent in overseas.

The recently re-launched HLB Essential card does not cap the cash rebate, which is fixed at 1% for all purchases (excluding petrol) amounting to RM50 and above. However, no rewards points will be given.

If you make payment in full before the payment due date, you won’t be charged any late payment penalty and interest.

can i online pay lets say alliance bank CC bill using hsbc on9 payment?
*
You can use IBG online, with admin charge of RM2 for each IBG transaction.

anyway, i dont even have 3 months pay slip so im holding out till next year i guess. what are the chances of getting a card if i dont have 3 months? i got 2 months btw..
*
Generally, most of the banks will not be able to process your application. Some banks even need to see a stable income activity (say 6 months) before they could approve your application.

It's also very difficult to win in their contests like "be the biggest daily spender and win...". I swiped RM30k once on a weekday and another on a weekend but still didn't win. tongue.gif
*
I do not trust those contests. Last time I spent a lot using HLB and Citibank CCs in overseas but I never won anything from them. 3 months ago I received a message from MasterCard informing that my spending with SCB MasterCard made me in the running to win a prize in the MasterCard Mega Sale contest. But since then I have not been receiving any more news from them.

Yes but of course it differs on case by case basis. The branch supervisor told me that usually someone from their credit card centre will automatically send these pre-approved credit cards to eligible customers but due to the huge Maybank customer base in Malaysia, not everyone will get it as they might sometimes miss out on eligible customers. Basically everyone with their monthly payroll credited into Maybank are eligible for these pre-approved credit cards but this is subjected to the final review at their credit card centre.

It is extremely rare. My company deposits staff salary into MBB account. MBB last year had written in to offer those freshies who had worked for at least 6 months a cc. If government wants to promote prudent spending, they must penalise those banks with loose policies on cc, and should not pass on the burden to all consumers.

AMEX's one is very easy to get   thumbup.gif

Not right at all. Even though Amex is not as popular as MC/VISA and its number of cardholders is far less than the latter, we cannot under estimate Amex users especially charge cardholders who can spend like pouring water without credit limit.

There are 100 watches allocated on a monthly basis starting August 09. Therefore, we can say that there is a fair and equal chance of winning for every month.

PBB is one of them and maybe the folks here can give more idea on which bank that have this facility.

I remember EON Bank and BSN can help people get CCs without proof of income, by simply pledging an FD for cc. However, the ratio of CL vs FD amount is not 1:1 as provided by PBB.

As far as I know, Citibank can approve a CL of as high as RM450k to a platinum cardholder.

For your information, you can't pay for your car here in Malaysia using a credit or charge card.
*
Unlike some western countries, in Malaysia you cannot pay your car price in full using cc. However, some car dealers are willing to let you swipe your cc for booking fee or downpayment even without imposing surcharge. Same thing applies to purchasing a property from big developers.

Traders Not Allowed To Impose Surcharge On Credit Card Purchase

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 23 (Bernama) -- Traders, in principle, are not allowed to impose a surcharge on purchase made using credit cards, the Dewan Rakyat was told on Monday.

Second Finance Minister Datuk Ahmad Husni Mohamad Hanadzlah said the restriction was in line with the regulation set by credit card brands such as MasterCard Worldwide and Visa International, and the terms spelled out in the agreement between traders and merchant acquirers.

"Card holders can actually inform the merchant acquirers or credit card issuers on the surcharge by submitting proofs, such as receipts, so that investigation can be carried out.

"Card holders can also choose not to buy from traders who impose the surcharge," he said in reply to Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan (BN-Kota Belud) at the Dewan Rakyat on Monday.

Abdul Rahman wanted to know whether traders were allowed to impose a surcharge of two per cent for purchase using credit cards, and described such an act as a "daylight robbery."

To a question from Teo Nie Ching (DAP-Serdang) on the rational for the annual RM50 service tax imposed on principal credit cards, Ahmad Husni said it was to promote prudent spending.

He said many individuals were holding a number of credit cards despite their limited income.

If the banks cannot do anything, you may try to direct the letter to MC/VISA. So far a lot of people have written to the respective banks but they have never written to MC/VISA directly.
