Get a plasma for sure
im not a expert or something, but in my house we have bought 4 flat screen TV b4, 2 plasma and 2 LCD (now only 2 left)
the burn in issue for plasma has been over-critised.
get a 42" plasma under RM3500, thats the best i could think of for gaming.

another vote for Panny Plasma TH-P42S10K FullHD, unbeatable price around RM3K, plus comes with 1+2 warranty, if add RM150, extend 2 more years for total 5-year warranty.
*
Where do you purchase the extra warranty for only RM150.00? Other request RM300-RM400.
Thanks dude.

My friend just got the Samsung 40B530 model. When compare to Pana P42S10K:

* WDTV - Natural color (Pana P42S10K)
* PS3 - More vibrant and better contrast (Samsung 40B530)
* ASTRO - Better up-scaling (Pana P42S10K)
* DVD - Better up-scaling (Pana P42S10K)
* Blu-ray - Dont know yet

Better off with Pana P42S10k (SenQ - RM3150 - 3 YEARS Waranty) compare Samsung 40B530 (SenQ - RM2900 - 3 Years warranty)

I believe you are looking for Sub-field Drive. In Plasma, their don't use motion engine or whatever to called it.

"It's exactly what 120hz and 240hz LCD is to smooth motion on LCD TVs. LCD doesn't go that high because there is too much lag in LCD, I don't think it's capable of such high frame rates.

What the TV is doing is taking the frames of souce material and mathimatically creating additional fields to insert between the real or actual fields to smooth motion and make it sharper.

The new 600hz plasmas from Panasonic are the only TVs that can actually show 1080 lines of resolution not just for static images like photos, but for moving images or motion resolution. Something that LCD TVs cannot do regardless of price or brand.

You have a really good TV, take the time to dial in the picture. You might find some settings at the AVS forums. And use the best connections (HDMI) and get some real high definition material, the picture should be really good."

"Is 600 hz better quility than 120hz?

I would say yes mainly because of the higher frame rate. I have never seen a 600 Hz TV so I could not say for sure.

Not true. the 600Hz has nothing to do with the actual refresh rate it has to do with what they call sub field motion.

A standard video signal is actually a series of still images, flashed on screen so quickly that we believe we are watching a moving image. The typical frame rate used in North America is 60 frames per second (60Hz) meaning that a TV would display 60 individual still images every second. Sub-field drive is the method used to flash the individual image elements (dots) on a plasma panel. For each frame displayed on the TV the Sub-field drive flashes the dots 10 times or more, meaning that the dots are flashing 600 times per second (600Hz) or more. (Example: 60 frames per second x 10 sub-fields = 600 flashes per second)."

Plasma no need those "motion engine" thing lah. The pixel itself is so fast that LCD would never catch up lah.

Did everyone here notice that FULL HD LCD TV tend to have "WAX" like image when playback SD / HD(720P) movie contents.
Why the "WAX" like effect don't appear to my FULL HD LCD computer Monitor?? It is not that obvious when browsing wallpaper image and photo?

Will high end model have this problem (RM3500 above for 40' model)??

Thanks.

I kinda agree, for vibrant colors...very difficult to beat Samsung...but I dunno why some ppl like to watch flesh color as red.

WAX.. nice term! biggrin.gif

that's the sucky effect of CCFL backlight.. biggrin.gif the backlight bleeding thro the panel.. so when you display a black image on the TV, and you switch off all the lights in your room, the TV still shines brightly in the room.... biggrin.gif
LEDs and local dimming LEDs in certain LCD TVs lessen this problem...
