Cheaper than i thought.. so this is the best rugged compact out there? If it is then i gotta go Sony centre to test it out.. Hopefully they can let me test it out by immersing the camera into a small fish tank. smile.gif

The last time i saw this was done on the Casio EX-G1.. unfortunately..the pics did not turn out as good as expected.
*
its already in the fish tank filled with water. laugh.gif there is no 'best' camera la, but its one of the best. biggrin.gif

can someone explain to me what is 18-55mm or 18-200mm?
*
simply said its the zoom length.

18mm means wide angle, 200mm means telephoto(can zoom further)

actually looking for DSLR ...

A580

D90

......... for future, cheap investment, D90 better. but heavy. and aged.

A580, sony A mount, less lenses choice or exp, flash....

hmm....... how?... dilemma, researching this both body
*
what you mean less lens choices? are you looking for a 50mm f1.2 or tilt shift? then yes, Sony does not have these lenses.

what does exp mean? Sony's flashes are the cheapest by the way.

QUOTE(sevenor @ Oct 29 2010, 09:30 AM)
Anyone can let me know what is the difference between these two lenses (apart from the VC thing)?

My friends offer me a sony dslr, alpha 200 with a basic lense, battery grip and beg with a price of RM 1600. Is it reasonable for me to buy it? How's it quality? Please give me advise, since I am a beginner in this photography world. Can I get a better camera with this budget (RM 1600~RM 2000)?
*
you can get the new sony a290 for about RM1585(Shashinki.com price), a 3rd party battery grip at Rm180, and a free bag if you buy from stores.

Thanks for recommendation.
It seems very good, I also very believe in Sony compact camera as my personal also using Sony.
This TX5 is in my top list Except for 1 thing only, it's TOUCH SCREEN ...

Is it okay for touch screen ? my personal preference is Button, feel more responsive.
If old guy use it okay ? Touch Screen feel alien to old people & don't know how to adjust also.
Anyone using Touch Screen Camera before ? Any comments from you ?
*
well, for me i find no problem. if you are just using Auto mode, you will just be pressing the shutter ma right? and what do you want to adjust? pretty straight forward. use few more times then ok d la. iphone also touch screen ma. so many people also using ma, whether 3 year old or 70 year old. haha.

but one thing i like is the auto focus point. u wan focus where, just press on the screen.

What about the warranty?  Can use Malaysia warranty here?

If better to buy in Malaysia, i will shut up my mouth la till i get back to Malaysia ...
*
better to buy in Malaysia. Malaysia usually follow US prices.

Dear ripper, thanks for the feedback, after reading the review, it seems like D3100 is a better buy here.
Hmm, bracketing seems like useful for newbies like me. But we can compensate that with a lil experience later on. =)

Any more suggestions of camera models for newbies? I will do research on the models, just name me suitable ones smile.gif

google sony tx-5 nuffnang events.

sony + nuffnang onced organised a event for bloggers to test this camera at sunway lagoon. one of the station games was to throw the cameras into a bucket 2 metres away. laugh.gif if that's not convincing enough i dunno what is.
