hey guys, im thinking of getting canon g12. should i? I like to take pictures, i've only had a mobilephone for a camera in the past.

is the g12 an overkill for me, who takes casual photos, i dun see myself taking extraordinarily creative pictures for the masses anytime soon or at all.

a canon PnS (powershot 300 or something) i found cost 1.2k and the g12 is priced at 1620. worth the rm400 extra?

lik cleaning kit, normally what will be enough for cleaning the camera, so far i know is sth like lenspen, some chemical solution, clothes..anymore?
can you suggest some and also the price estimation(if possible) so that we wont get slaugther 

. and each one of them has its own pros and cons, i mean look at sony's SLT cameras. to me i think the video mode with continuous AF system are amazing, but there's a loss of 30% light. to some people that's a no big issue, i mean, to me, it wont be an issue of course because im just into photography as a hobby. but for the pros, maybe they wont like it.

u sounded like a sony fanboy bro. i mean, every negative comments about sony, u would be the first one to counter and defend it . anyways, zstan is right there. a friend of mine is using the old alpha. n his images are great. even his sets of lenses are alot. 
yeah. u got the point right? but just to be sure, both cameras are great. i mean, the people who bought D90 2 years back, have no regrets. (this is as far as i know )

i wud say that's an excellent choice  . or better yet, replace the 18-55 with the 18-200
