my xbox360 had been 3rrod again after repair one times and it happened again after 11months.

I am using the thermal paste to put on the GPU and CPU, but it cannot works??

please help....

Buy Jasper model so that you can play without worrying about getting 3ROD.

my 360 also 3rrod this morning...
didn't play with it at all yesterday...
suddenly try to switch on,then 3 red ring od death appeared...

as i check for my xbox that the thermal paste is dry and cause the CPU/GPU overheat and you should apply new thermal paste for it...
however, my xbox had been modify since the first time 3rrod....

i'll try to fix it this evening...
already take off the cover...
but not enough tools to proceed...

i bought all in one screw driver to open the xbox....
however, even u fix the 3rrod for this time, it will happens agains in future due to thermal paste dry off...

Use better thermal paste to prevent dryness. eg, AS5.

you are lucky because after fixing it you managed to use it for 11months. for your information, my japanese 360 only survived for 6 months after fixing it. then my asian 360 after 18 months finally it got hit by 3rod and this time worst after fixing also still 3rod so cure at all

you can do it yourself because the thermal paste very fast dry off and you should buy a good thermal paste for it....

That is not the GPU problem..just it is caused by overheat...

No matter how unhappy you are to the information, the fact is for machine like Xenon they're all inherit with a faulty design in GPU chip packaging. While Falcon's design is improved, the packaging is somehow still not perfected.

It'as true some 3RRoD due to dried heatpaste and subsequently failed chip but most of the time, the chip itself is failing, the action of moving the heatsink might be the one helping instead of reapply heat paste.

To me, My old zepher 360 was only survive only 5 months (Since October 2007).

Until 5 Times I got RROD until June 2008 then survive again for only 6 months (November 2008 after I've 1st hands-on on my newly bought GOW2 on the same day) then RROD again (Although I used the proper Cooler Fan).

So that's why I was desperately bought the ARCADE JASPER-made 360 last march until it still survive for 10 months with twice game freezes.

Don't let your phobia brought you down. if you so scared of 3RRoD then go PS3, but PS3 will also have YLoD. You have been warned.

3RRoD can be faked while freeze game is normal as complicated application will have certain amount of bugs.

how much will it cost to fix the ROD problems?

im already on my fifth unit, believe me i can say that falcon & jasper had really improve alot compare to those old units. so far my falcon has yet to hang once / 3rod. its already 1year 8months old. there is this thing i always do, dont know if it actually helps. i never play game without installing. it helps reducing heat, even its on for 12hours you could only feel warm from the back of the xbox.

but anyway im already on my new jasper elite, sold my falcon last week bcoz its white (white=dirty)

My 1st Xenon unit RROD'ed after about 1.5 years in 2007.

I bought my 2nd Falcon unit last year in April 2008, and it RROD'ed in August 2009. I sent it to Ivan(Tech2) to replace the GPU. It RROD'ed again after 2 months, and it was fixed again.

Then, just past Friday it RROD'ed for the 3rd time

I'm going to collect my xbox from Ivan again today. I'm hoping this time it'll last me at least another 3 more months Best part is that the console was never in an enclosed, no-ventilation area.

so the reballing gpu was not a permanent fix ?

it was never meant to be 100% permanent fixed, there is alot user who got 3rod after the fix that has never gone back to the post to post the failure. my friend is 1 of the victim a falcon unit, 1-2months time he got 3rod again, then at that time the service is only able to do 2nd time reballing for free in 3months. he gave up on his unit in the end.

@_skeevs :- what to do? my games are more expansive than the console, i just cant give up on them =P

Yup, they never mentioned that it'll be a perm fix, but will *hopefully* last 6mths - 1 year. I just picked the console up, says that they used lead-free solder before this and now changed back to lead based solder. Hope that works better then.

i think reballing the GPU for first time is enough, then second time try to apply the thermal paste on it and one 240V fan for it then it can be last if the console xbox 3rrod again for second time....

It is nothing related with the rebaling GPU for second time failed 3 rrod, try to fixed the problem yourself, then it will be OK...

for the arctic silver 5, it is hard to get in Malaysia..

I asked my US friend help me buy it and will apply the thermal on the console for it once i get it....

You forget something. After you put the new thermal paste, secure your heatsinks. After that "Reheat it". People always skipped this part. Try to reheat it for about 7 to 10 minutes. How to reheat? Just turn on the console without the fan. And then cool it down for about 20 to 30 minutes. After it cooled down, turn it on again. It's good to go.

Yes,you are right....now i just put normal cooler master thermal paste and no problem for 3rrod until now..

Once i receive 3pcs arctic silver 5 from US friend, i will apply for it..

I'm sorry, I'm just telling you that. I've been research about RROD & PS3's YLod all day long. That's why I've played my 360 about just 2 hours then rest to avoid such things happen unlike those videos and still doin great. Thank god to me.

Thank god, My falcon is turned on "previously" like a server jsut to serve me downloads & demos.....

Nowadays no more that way coz my wife said later the baby will follow suit + got some radiation from that machine....

and yet, after a full freaking year, it never failed....yet

However rest every 2 hour is good....for your health. keep it up. Do it on all other gaming.

Dont know about 2 hours a day gaming.. will take quite some time to finish of a single game.

I'm using my refurb zephyr unit from at some days 2-12 hours also no problem.

Last time my prevois unit 3ROD, and i hardly even use it.. like use it for a week then left it there for months and it 3RODS on me during a game intro lol.

I mean guys, after my zephyr went RROD 6 times last year, that's why i keep my jasper 360 safely (like that iv'N said that playing 2 1/2 hours no problem).

anyways my previous falcon is dead and now got myself a jasper...

sadly , i thought it would have lasted much longer..
