QUOTE(ozak @ Aug 10 2016, 08:53 AM) Only me. Ill try these two places, I m not recommend them because I have special price. You don't see me advertise heavily. I recommend them is because they have more variety to choose. A few brand to choose, all the standard paint color and custom mix paint color. All in 1 shop. Save your money and time. But I m not sure the price. You got to check for yourself. Since you have more choice in 1 place, you will get confuse and don't no what to choose. Once you visit, get back here and tell us something. 1. Logam Seah opposite tesco. 2. Mr. Paint Shop beside IOI I am planning to go with the best price/quality to paint. Aiming for Jotun family. Let see if they manage to talk me out of what i want and suggest a better option. Ill come back and update the experience. Thanks guys |

QUOTE(ozak @ Aug 10 2016, 08:53 AM) Only me. I went to Seah Paint shop. There was 2 aunties manning it. Unfortunately, the moment I mentioned Jotun, they 'sound' me, we do not sell Jotun, only ICI and Nippon, did you see the Jotun Sign on our boards outside. I apologized and left. I m not recommend them because I have special price. I then went down to Mr. Paint Shop. Met a serious looking young guy(mr.lee) who turned out to be very patient and professional. I generally told him to recommend me a paint, and he asked me back which one do I prefer and he can talk about it. I mentioned Jotun and he started to talk about it. First he divided my category, high end/mid(majestic-total beauty)/low end(strax), depending on my budget. My interest was on mid range. I then gave me my size and he was patient in calculating, proposing and talking about it. I told I wanted to do it on my own, and he was very patient explaining to a noob like me. I was impressed. I wanted to use Nippon Momento on one of the concept walls, and he asked me how was my 'skill'. He then advised me to try San Cora: Italia Due even I am aiming for a 1 liter tin. Price wise: 1 lt Jotun Majestic - Total beauty - Matte - rm100 3 lt Jotun Majestic - Total beauty - Matte - rm238 He strongly advised me to apply undercoat, even the condo has an initial layer, tip was, undercoats can be thinned up to 90% (1:10), so I need to get a 20L undercoat about ~ rm170. I wanted to repaint the ceiling with Strax 1lt Jotun Strax - rm85 15lt Jotun Strax - rm185 San Cora: Italia Due - 1Lt - rm148 Momento was around rm110 (not sure) Best part, I told him, I am going to survey and come back. He assured me his price was the best and asked me to check it out. He even told me, see you soon as I was leaving. The feeling is quite nice to visit this kind of shops with professional people. Anyway, I am going to check out other Jotun Shops today to see how true is this guy. I mean, i did read in this thread about mr.paint shop damansara being awesome too. I guess the Puchong one also is quite awesome. I will update the price if i find another cheaper place.. also ill open a thread on my DIY paint project(hopefully it will be a success) |

QUOTE(ozak @ Aug 11 2016, 10:28 AM) Sorry. They don't sell jotun. Only Nippon, ici and mr.paintman. Or probably korea paint. its ok bro.. You don't need an undercoat. Unless the current wall color is too dark . What is the purpose of undercoat from his point of view ? I just finish my painting 1 of the living hall yesterday. Just 2 layer of grey on to a light green previous color. Use 1.5L of paint. No undercoat. Price are very competitive. Mostly +/- few RM different only. Anyway, it is good to compare and tell us here. undercoat, according to him, its for the grip of the new paint over the older surface. He used the word "gam". I am having this issue with my current house, at times, i will see flakes of paint that drop from the ceiling or the wall, i think long term undercoat plays a role. |
