If your wall still in bare, use proper undercoat rather maxillite. It last very long and the paint stick strongly. You can stick any thing to the wall without the paint peel off.
Grill use metal primer. Either come in black or red. Any hardware shop can buy. Just tell them antirust paint for metal or primer for metal. You can sand it off and apply the primer. But it pain in the ass. Fast way use pain remover.
You can use any undercoat brand with different brand paint. No problem at all.
Metal primer and wall primer is different.
1) Do you mean something like pentalite instead of maxilite? Can use it on ceiling as well as wall? The existing old wall is dark color and I want to paint light color
2) Metal primer in black or red?

I will have trouble covering it with light color then. Agree on the sanding part. Not all old paint is removable. So surface is not smooth like new. Not sure if I should try paint remover.
3) Nippon - Prime & Coat 2-in-1 seems like can use on everything. Wonder if I should just buy this one and apply on ceiling. wall, doors and grill before I put final paint.
BTW, what paint do you use? Nippon or ICI?
