QUOTE(hotNcool @ Oct 6 2022, 08:57 AM) oops forgot to ask you something, your previous 20+ years wall , before you cat right, do you sand off or scrape off the paint ler? Generally, people dont do it if another paint colour can cover it. Sanding is not only dusty, more work and costly but if dont do another skim coat, then possible to see fine lines after painting if sanding is poorly done.

QUOTE(RallyNight @ Oct 6 2022, 09:10 AM) Yes the one with window, facing rain n sun most Most likely there is water seeping through the wall. The wet dry effects that causes the paint to flake. Treat the outside wall with sealer and weatherbond paint, then only redo the inside wall. This post has been edited by mini orchard: Oct 6 2022, 09:18 AM

QUOTE(RallyNight @ Oct 6 2022, 09:15 AM) Outside were treated with weatherbond 1 year piror. Seems like no sealer from contractor. Sometime, weatherbond paint is not enough to protect the wall. Sealer and skim coating are additional measures. Possible could be from the edges of the window ? If yes, then put sealant around the edges to see if it helps. Sometimes, worn out rubber lining on windows can cause water to enter the house. This post has been edited by mini orchard: Oct 6 2022, 09:22 AM

QUOTE(RallyNight @ Oct 6 2022, 09:28 AM) I think the water came thru the window, they saw some tiktok bs and add petrol in woodpaint. Saw some dent from damp on the window. If your current window frame is wood, I suggest you change to aluminium. Unless you intend sell soon, then use sealant.

QUOTE(hotNcool @ Oct 11 2022, 07:41 AM) and i back from the hardware store with nippon emulsion matex 82RM, (maxlite 84RM), i asked the price for maxlite but end up with tauke suggested nippon's regardless price, i red a few post in this forum suggested stronger and durable paint can be painted on the exterior part of the house like jotun shield (jotashield) series, can anyone suggest interior paint regardless price and color since the color tone quite similar and no big different in the price . (dulux /jotun/nippon) these 3 brands so popular and no other brands come in my mind, even it do so , im not certain about its durability , l cant find mr paint in my area, but i saw seamaster brand, just not sure whether it is a good choice or not? i prefer a "matt" finishing look Interior and exterior wall paints can be used for any wall. Just matter of how long it last and where it is painted. Weather shield or weather bond paints are formulated to withstand harsh weather condition and so is normally used for external wall. Those with limited budget will also used maxilite for external wall. My neighbour is one of them. This post has been edited by mini orchard: Oct 11 2022, 10:08 AM

QUOTE(hotNcool @ Oct 12 2022, 07:47 AM) here is my after-work progress, took us about an hour and a half to paint a layer of matex emulsion onto it, not sure it counted as a layer or a layer and a half, coz my bf keep rolling another layer to avoid naked-eyes color differences, today gonna apply another thin layer. so tired climb up and down the ladder to fill the gap between ceiling and the wall... according to the instruction of matex usage, i straightly wash the brushes and the roll after used, it is correct , isnt it? Looks ok but have another coat or two since the earlier colour can be seen lightly. After painting, wash the roller and brush under running water. Then swing the roller and brush lightly to remove the trapped water. Let it dry in the open space. This post has been edited by mini orchard: Oct 12 2022, 12:10 PM

QUOTE(hotNcool @ Oct 12 2022, 02:25 PM) emulsion paint kena wait for the painted layer to dry , min need to wait for how many hour apart? can tell? thanks!! Use your finger to feel as a guide. How fast a wall paint dry before starting the next coat depends on the weather. Opening the windows and turning on the fan after painting will help the drying process. For eg maxilite, after an hour or two, should be good for the next coat. This post has been edited by mini orchard: Oct 12 2022, 02:33 PM

QUOTE(hotNcool @ Oct 21 2022, 12:25 PM) after one single layer matex apply for repaint purpose, i found out small crack lines on the paint surface, not sure apply 2nd layer for a full coat whether this appear again if so, it might affect the nippon paint as the finishing , now im so worry  It will cover provided no earth movement to accelerate the crack.
