Hi guys, my rented house now look like shit. Thinking of repaint it as i will be moving in for own stay.

Can i use Matex white colour to paint the whole house first and then use Jotun Strax to paint on the colours?

Matex is the cheap one. RM60+ for big tong, 18 liters i think.

I normally matex it all white, my best choice coz I budget..
once it goes white, the color will stand out.
bro ... where you get RM60 (pls let me know, wanted to buy for new condo) icon_rolleyes.gif

Funny, some painters quoted me excluding the ceiling!!!

I decided to let my indo contractors do the painting and I supply the paint. Job including wood and metal work painting. No color limitation. Estimated total cost will be in the region of RM4k for a standard DS.

No rocket science, 1 coat of primer and 2 coats of paint.

I have chosen Kansai paint. Chat with the color consultant, very happy with the recommended color choice.

Unfortunately, prices go up starting April.

After reading the long thread...Let me see..

My contractor told me that the new structure does not include painting(is this normal?) so it looks like cement color at the moment....
The external render is 2 coats of cement, looks really rough and will absorb paint like crazy..It looks still a bit wet..This EXTERNAL WALLS,FENCE,GATE PILLARS..I should paint with 2 coats of emulsion white..correct?
The internal wall, I think will be 2 render + 1 plastering..so this is new, I should paint 1 ALKALINE SEALANT + 2 coats of emulsion(white or otherwise)..appreciate that eric2 sifus..

see my pics in this thread..http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1734175/+40

Yes, it is a norm they do not include painting on any reno unless as per agreed upon.

You have got to wait for the new exterior structure to be completely dry before you paint otherwise the color will have mark of faded shades.

Normally, they will use brick as core and plaster cement (mixed with fine sand). Mixed with coarse sand if you want a more texture surface. Alternately, you can use texture coating from SKK or Suzuka or San Cora to create a more luxurious look.

Apply primer before you coat emulsion paint (water based) for cement structure and solvent based for metal and wood.

Same apply to interior wall.

Do not mix paint by yourself. You will not get the same color if run short.

Hope it helps.

got some question on painting old house....

usually old house paint is peeling off or dusty etc....when we want to paint the whole house, is it a norm that painter will 'clean up' by spraying water or what? or is it just paint on top is good enough?

the quoted painting labour price like mentioned here...3k for double storey, does it include touch up like this? cleaning before painting?

hope there are painting sifu here can answer me...thanks

They use scraper to remove fungus on wall.

Do not save on cheap paint. The cost of paint to cost of labor is almost 1:1.25, a rough estimation.

Any place to recommend for buying paint at Puchong area? Any good ones to recommend?

Currently, considering Mr.PaintMan(S'pore) paint or ColorLand(M'sia) paint.
