Hi, what about roof painting, do you do roof re-painting?

And do you advice to use those ICI Solar Roof (said to be able to reduce house temp by x'Celcius, how true is this based on your expereince)?

Hi guys, my rented house now look like shit. Thinking of repaint it as i will be moving in for own stay.

Can i use Matex white colour to paint the whole house first and then use Jotun Strax to paint on the colours?

Matex is the cheap one. RM60+ for big tong, 18 liters i think.

Why paint Matex, then paint Jotun Strax?
You should only use either one. Apply 2 coats will do.

Word of advice. Make sure that the existing surface is not powdery. Else it will be a waste of your paint, even if you use Jotun Strax

Yeah, should not paint Matex then Strax. It's either you use sealer before painting Strax or straight away hantam Strax on your wall. Yeah. agree with kelvyn. make sure that your wall is not powdery/chalky.

Hi Guys, wanted to ask is it a good idea to use Maxilite as primer to cover up previous color on bedroom wall before painting with premium paint? Or should use the proper primer like Dulux Adhesion Promoting Interior Wall Primer?

Not too sure of KL but you can find them in Puchong Jaya, just beside the Shell station. The Sissons paint supplier shop is along the same row as Sin Tuck Woh hardware, Puchong. Hope that helps.

guys, thanks for the comment and sorry for the late reply.

As i had to repaint my ceilling, i hantam matex first... 3 coats on all .. then only paint a few feature wall with strax...

the shop keeper also told me not to do it... but...

the wall was previously painted with matex also... so i do not see a difference if i paint on strax straight away or after new coats of matex...

anyway.. i did 2 coats of strax...

so far so good... hopefully all will be alright. smile.gif

First of all, you misunderstood..I'm not a painter actually...lol

1. I'll recommend Jotun's Jotaplast or Pacific NewLite..Pacific Paint is a newly incorporated company and to be frank with you, it's(Pacific Paint) emulsion paint is of one of the best quality in the market..
And yeah, Jotun indeed have the Multicolor Tinting Machine and from this machine, you can almost get every possible color in your mind. But for the cheap emulsion paint, only certain light colors can be mixed with the machine..And this also depends on which shop you buy from..Not all of the shops know how to mix cheap emulsion paint using the machine..
In fact, quite a lot of other companies also have this type of machine..
For example,
KCC Paint
Sissons Paint
ICI Dulux
Nippon

2. Yes, if the paint is concentrated, then you should add a little of water. The 1 part to 10 parts, I also confused edi. don't understand la..But it is advisable not to add too much of water and normally 5% is ideal..But some paint have different amount to dilute..For example, Jotun's Solvent-based Sealer(Cito Primer 09) can be diluted with about 50% of solvent. Sometimes, more than 50% and sometimes less than 50%..

3. 5L can cover approximately 10 sq. m..Some can cover less than that and some can cover more than that..But average, 10 sq.m..Gloss paint can cover more than that around 13-17 sq.m depending on the painter or the person who painted it..

4. I'm not that good in masking tape but as far as i know, any masking tape also won't peel off the paint...You can buy one masking tape and you'll know the adhesive isn't very strong. As far as I know, Sancora's masking tape also not bad..

Hi, is Pacific Paint from Indonesia? Is it available in Penang?
I would like to paint a 2nd hand apartment. It is for rental purpose. So can you please recommend which type of economic paint I can use? For interior only.
