Thanks bro, well said, I will never use federal paint again. Want cheap got poor quality.

At this moment I am planning to get 3-5 cans Nippon 5L satin glow.
Can please recommend where can get cheap in PJ area ?

I went to PJ old town bus stop upper part, same row as UOB & Maybank.

& Kindly advise how is Dulux quality ?
Is their paint semi gloss like Nippon satin glow ?
Is Dulux light & space effective making the area more spacy, is it semi gloss also ?  Never use dulux before lah. TQ  icon_rolleyes.gif

bro, not sure bout where to get..

dulux light&space is effective in making your area look spacier because all their colours are light colours and yeah it shines...but it's too pricey..

Hi, there. Looking to repaint the entire house. Which paint would be best nowadays?

Also, for a 22X70 house, how much is it estimated to cost to repaint?

Thanks,

It depends on which brand...KCC increased by RM5 and only for some products..

Sealer go for any brand also can..Dulux is the most expensive among the top brands...
but make sure you're not getting those cheap sealer like RM3x a can..
and if you want quality, try not to buy basecoat sealer and other cheap sealers that is meant for projects..

I've read thru all the posts but there's a lot that I still don't understand so I hope you expert painters can enlighten me. Can you help answer some questions?

1. I previously painted my walls using Maxilite (white) abt 3 yrs ago and I now noticed certain parts of the walls has turned yellowish. Is it due to the paint quality? Can you pls recommend a brand that will not cause this problem? I want something which is long lasting so that I don't have to repaint my apt for at least the next 5 years (preferably longer brows.gif ). Also, how many cans do I need? My apt is 800 sqft (3 bedrooms).

2. A couple of spots on my wall looks damp to me cos no matter how I paint it, the area turns yellow within days. How do I solve this problem?

3. I noticed some cracks in certain areas of my apt. Some are hair thin line but some are slightly bigger (ie. wall edge - chipped). Should I be very concerned? How do I mend these cracks myself?

4. Can you please recommend the type of paint for grill. What can I do for anti-rust cos I don't want to repaint the entire grills again next time.

5. How about paint for normal wooden door? The current original door is showing black spots already, which I don't understand cos this is indoor, and half the time my windows are closed.

6. How long can I keep unused paint? I still have some that I used 5 years ago.

I hope that you guys can advise me cos I'm thinking of doing this myself, unless I am able to find somebody to paint for me with reasonable fees. Tq.

there are lots of series and range of paints... for nippon, you have matex(basic), Qlite, odourless, etc etc

this should be the correct coating
1) try nippon protective coatings- red oxide primer heavy duty
2) wrought iron black matt if you wan typical wrought iron effect
3) gloss surfaqce paint
4) clear c/w hardener (if you want glossier)

How to patch up crack or nail hole ?

mostly people misunderstood

sealer contain rubber characteristics... it is mostly applier for outdoor wall... so that water wont penetrate in.....

for in door, sealer could be used... but not so cost effective.... mostly use cheap matt paint for indoor wall as foundation after seal the cracks with putty filla

then only followed by colour of your choice

hi fren,

I recently painted my whole d/s link. 22 X 75.
I bought the paint and tools.
Hired a team of 2 Indonesians and I took leave for 5 workings days to supervise.

I used Joton Straxx Matt for Internal. Joten Extreme for external.
Budger paint about RM1500.

Reasons to hire;
1. Reasonable wages. Each man wage is only RM80 per day.
2. Skill. They "potong kaler" with such ease. Also fix any cracks on the walls.
3. Consistency. Important when painting dark colours. Their work is smooth and even tone.
3. Mixing. They add 25% water which helps me save a bit on paint.
4. Time. I tried and cannot match their speed la. cry.gif
5. Hazard. They easily climb up the roof to those hard to reach places. shocking.gif
6. Hard work. Its really tiresome to paint. sweat.gif
7. Profesionalism. Yes, even labourers can be professional and they take pride in their work.

My painter is Mr Mat Salleh @ 016 - 386 4768

Need i say more? smile.gif

Questions
1. Do u hv to tape off the edges before they paint or are they really carefull when painting?
2. Did they set the rate of RM80 or did you? If I want them to do internal painting only (for apt), how much is a reasonable rate to pay them?
3. Can they work on weekends?

Thanks..
