QUOTE(leong2084 @ Jan 8 2010, 09:38 PM) wow, thats really nice and shiny ^^ i love the gleamy red with a tinge of gold!! Thanks bro. I'm not sure about the background color affecting the temperature. Why don't you do some test on it. lol your ray is so cute! hey just wondering rite....if we make the aquarium background like yours blue or black...does it actually affect water temperature? i mean i've heard rumors that different colors can attract heat and some dont or something like that @.@ btw..how big is your tank? Btw, my tank is 5x2x2 feet. |

QUOTE(leong2084 @ Jan 8 2010, 11:07 PM) i just re-measured my tank...its like 4ft in length and 1.5ft in width and 1.6ft in height..... I do have 4x1.5x1.5 also. Currently keeping my comm. Once reach 12 inch, I will transfer them into 5x2x2. Now already around 6 inch. Maybe in 5 months need to shift tank already.what concerns me most is the width :S i scared cannot turn well lol....but if i buy an arowana about 5-7inch....it will take about 1 year to reach about 12inch which shud be ok i guess @.@ then the growth slows down....and i will have aproximately another year (2 years in total) to get a 5x2x2 or larger tanik rite? Wud it really be ok? sorry lol This post has been edited by saif_bear: Jan 8 2010, 11:14 PM |

Guys, don't call me sifu leh.. Me also hobbyist like you guys. We sharing knowledge here okay.
About red, its hard to tell blood or chili right now because of mix breed. But what I'm remember from last time here are the characteristic of chili n blood red. Blood red: * Red color more darker with thick red scale. * Scale core color more darker. * Fan shape tail. Chili red. * Red color more to bright red. * Normally full body red scale. * Diamond shape tail. About a visit to my house, you guys free weekend or weekdays? You guys decide that 1st. Later we set the date becoz I'm only off duty on weekend every 2 weeks. |

QUOTE(leong2084 @ Jan 11 2010, 11:06 PM) thanks again Saif Good info there bro. Its always fun to inspire more ppl to join the same interests and hobbies ^^ the more the merrier maaaaaa me also ....comming soon lol To add to our arowana knowledge base, here as quote from http://www2.wbs.ne.jp/~arowana/efaq.htm "Q: What is the difference between chili red and blood red? Q: Are chili red better than blood red? A: "Chili Red " and "Blood Red " are names for wild arowana. Chili red live in the south area of the Lake Sentarum in Kalimantan. Blood red live in the northern area. A chili red has a "spoon" head, a blood red has a "cannonball" head. A chili red has a diamond shape tail, a blood red has a fan shape tail. A chili red has green skin, a blood red has darker base. Both become red. They are different strains, so it is worth nothing to say which is better. I should mention again those names are for WILD fish. We can purchase only farmed fish, and they are cross bred ones. It is nonsense to discuss "Is my aro chili or blood?" Only we can purchase are "1st grade red". Of course "Chili red TYPE" or "Blood red TYPE" do exist." I was just wondering rite...lol...if there was such a possibility....haha...to tatoo the fish LOL....put like Man.U or Ferrari logo hahaha....sorry...stress from work make me love to talk non-sense QUOTE for more about arowanas, just goto arofanatics.com Thanks for the info. |

QUOTE(moorish @ Jan 17 2010, 12:03 PM) want to ask a survey question here: Uncle, I will choose to go to the old uncle shop. Easy parking, no traffic jam n probably more cheaper stuffs as the low rental fee. Planning to open a lfs, now searching for location: Tentatively narrow down to 2 location, one is Kuchai Entrepeuner park opposite Dynasty Condo, the place is new shop lot, look more updated, modern and trendy, the drawback is shop lot is smaller, super jam, need to orbit 10 rounds b4 you can get a parking space and hidden away from main traffic view, so exposure will be very low. Another location is behind Kuchai Entrepeuner park, Happy Garden, Old shop lot, rental cheaper, shoplot bigger, no problem with parking, main road high exposure, draw back is old uncle type shop, not trendy. So as a hobbyist, if both place offer the same thing like pellet, SW, feeder fish and so on, will you mind the jam or you will skip the jam and buy from the shop behind? The reason to the survey is, I need to know the majority of the younger generation mentality, do they mind traffic jam and parking problem to the extend they dun wan to have anything to do with old untrendy uncle shop type offering the same thing? Or convenient is still an important factor. The location which is easy to see from the main road is main factor that will attract more people to your shop. |
