An article in the Star today confirms that our price is going down to RM140. Now, does anyone know if we have to request the reduction or if it's automatic? http://biz.thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?f...06&sec=business

QUOTE(spirit818 @ Mar 31 2010, 09:38 PM) This looks like my speed tests. We are supposed to get 512kbps up. Does anyone actually get that speed? My ADSL line is capped high enough to support it, but when I use speedtest.net or TM's speedtest (or just transfer files) it appears that I have a 384kbps uplink. Are we all in the same situation? Are they deceptively marketing the 4mbps service?

Some info for people already on rm160 package who want to get their rate changed to rm140.
I went to TM Point today to try to do this.
If you already on Blockbuster package (free fixed-line calls in Malaysia, free cordless phone, free wifi modem) then the change should appear automatically on your bill next month, nothing more to do.
If you are on Combo package (the one that came before the Blockbuster package), then you have to go to TM Point to change. There will be no interruption in service, but an installer will come to deliver the wifi modem and you have to pay rm88 for that. There seems to be no way around this charge, even if you don't want the new modem. Also your contract period will be reset to one year from the date you change to the Blockbuster package @ rm140. They said that since I am a foreigner I can get out of the contract if my employer posts me out of Malaysia.

QUOTE(MX510 @ Apr 6 2010, 08:03 PM) I thought all 4 Mbps RM 160 auto revert to RM 140 ? Nope, only Blockbuster package. Of course, it's possible that the people at TM Point were wrong, but I did ask several times and asked her to check with her colleagues to be absolutely certain (since in my experience everyone has a different answer at TM).

QUOTE(MX510 @ Apr 7 2010, 08:18 AM) I agree with u later will give a call to TM.Nut helpdesk support and ask them to connect me to Premium Support Let me know how it goes. I don't want the new modem, don't want an installer visit, don't want to pay RM88, and don't want a new contract, but they sure made it seem like that was the only way. Maybe I should have just waited to see what happened on the bill. How do you reach premium support anyway? Whenever I try they say there is no such thing anymore. QUOTE(LPJ @ Apr 8 2010, 08:49 AM) I recently got the 4Mb package, but the speed test give me really funny result. Using speedtest.net, it will begin with download speed around 1.7Mb, then shot up 25+Mb then download test complete. Using streamyx speedtest, download speed straight shot up to around 6Mb then downlod speed complete. Wat is going on??? What's going on is that you are placing too much faith in speedtest.net. To reliably assess your transfer speed, download files and see for yourself how fast it is.

QUOTE(marky @ Apr 14 2010, 04:11 PM) 14db and 15db really so much diff? No, but they both mean the quality is marginal - barely working, and if any other factor gets in the way it can easily stop working.

QUOTE(MX510 @ Apr 15 2010, 07:51 AM) I found that certain 218.111 can't go max out being capped at 250kB/sec Switching back to 115 full speed ahead For what it's worth, I'm on 218.111 and get 500KB/s downloads.

QUOTE(Arasan @ Apr 15 2010, 06:32 PM) rajulkabir, are you too being capped at 5mb? My DSL line, as reported by the modem, is at 5120. I ran the TM speedtest right now, it reported 4258. When I download from major sites (Sourceforge, etc.) the speed hovers between 480 and 510 KB/s.

QUOTE(Moogle Stiltzkin @ Apr 21 2010, 11:25 AM) Is 130 to 200 kb/s normal for megaupload premium using 4mb streamyx??? 4mb is suppose to be 512 kb/s isn't it ??? I've never seen 512kbps upload speeds on Streamyx 4mbps service - mine or anyone else's. Does anyone actually get those speeds? This post has been edited by rajulkabir: Apr 21 2010, 01:34 PM

QUOTE(bai1101 @ Apr 26 2010, 01:55 AM) any chance a bad modem can cause unstable DSL? Cause just now my D-link DSL520B keep hang and i saw the DSL light is blinking one. Than i take the TM riger modem to replace and i saw the DSL light is stable no blinking @_@ Bad modem, or bad cable. Check the DSL line stats to get a better sense of what's going on.

QUOTE(RangerRed @ May 3 2010, 01:11 AM) A contract is a contract... until u complete it do u think they will allow to just change to the cheaper service? I completed my contract many years ago and they still want me to pay RM88 to change to the blockbuster plan. I will earn it back in 4.5 months so it's worth it, but still, that is not what we were promised in the fancy speech.

QUOTE(kaiserreich @ May 3 2010, 05:58 PM) You mean you had to pay RM88 to migrate from 4Mbps streamyx combo to 4Mbps Blockbuster deal? Thats daylight robbery I haven't called the contractor to confirm my appointment yet, so it still hasn't happened. But yeah, I went to two different TM Points and they both said the same thing. They say it's because I am getting a new modem. But I don't want a new modem. My old TM modem is perfectly fine. It's such a stupid waste. I am hoping I can sell it back to the contractor or something. I am definitely not going to let him install it in any case; I don't want anyone messing with my setup.
