hey guys I would like to ask if in the past the streamyx connection in my area (1mbps package rm88) was pretty slow when connecting to overseas website such as downloading from Rapidshare, megaupload and some direct links (about 1kb/s - 15kb/s) and also slow youtube, will this situation change if I subscribte to 4mbps package?

The only good thing was that I was able to download during midnight and morning but not in the afternoon and evening. I could watch ppstream well. I guess this problem arose due to many streamyx users in my apartment.

Recently I went to check my cousin's streamyx connection who lived 600m apart (he is using 512kbps) and his speed is quite stable especially when downloading from rapidshare and so on.

I would like to know if I were to subscribe to 4mbps package will the situation change better. Thank you.

hey guys, is that true that aztech modems couldn't detect 4mbps?,because this is what my contractor have said, both my own aztech dsl605e as well as dsl600e from tm couldn't even reached 2mbps, he said that he's going to give me blue riger modem, hopefully it can reached because he's even raised my port from 4092 to 8187 already,

this is 100% true - if u view the earlier pages i had the same problem, using Aztech 605EW for years already.

Then when upgraded to 4MB - it can only reach 2MB the max.

Checked everywhere, line-port-termination-account ... and in the end had to use the Riger modem ... mad.gif

I dunno why Aztech is so terrible in this - maybe some protocol issue.

BTW - the riger is urs as it is free modem with 4MB package, so take it ... ! Riger would easily reach 4MB or even 5MB if they didnt cap it i suppose.

Hence i still need help with our brothers here if anyone else uses Linksys and successfully connect to 4MB? pls help with the model ..

p/s : pls avoid zy*** also ... cry.gif - just me.

hi guys,
i have requested for upgrade from 1m to 4m and today the technician came and told that he can not upgrade because my attenuation level is 62 db which should be less than 40 db eventhough my noise margin is ok 21. i feel so sad that i cant get 4m speed. Is this true or anyother way to improve the attenuation level???????

what will happen if upgrade even at higer attenuation level??????? is it possible to request to upgrade for testing??????? can anyone explain and suggest other way around to get 4m from streamyx?????

Yeah, better that they tell you that you can't, than you subscribe and get bonded to the contract. At that time if your connection isn't stable and not up to expectation, only yourself to blame.

You can try rewiring your house telephone line. If after that it's still bad, then you need to get TM to rewire the line from your house to the DSLAM

FYI, TM says that they are only obliged to provide 80% of the subscribed speed. However, the MCMC states that you should be getting 90%.

^ Only to the BRAS. Anything after BRAS they are not responsible for it.

*BRAS - Broadband Relay Access Server
*images below hosted on Imageshack USA, please be patient if your IP has bad international routing.

This diagram shows TM's "infra"

As you can see, the BRAS is before the core router and all other components. Most of us have no problems getting 100% speed to BRAS, it's at the core router/international peering/dns that is fk-up, which is all after the BRAS.

This also means, TM does not need to care about your complaint as they can always say they are only responsible for what is stated in the clause. But i dont think they will say so lar, if you get to talk to the higher levels, they are quite understanding and actually they will/might ignore that fact, and will help you out.

If they deny, complaint to MCMC/CFM directly. You can even point out this weakness to them, let them wake up abit

Remember that by increase ur cap, you will sacrifice ur SNR.... (Higher cap, lower SNR)
