1. he went into the house and asking where is ur phone line..
2. he uses his own modem + laptop if he is bringing one to test dsl readings
3. usually he will contact u 1st.. but if he fails to, u can contact helpline to get the assigned tech hp number so that u could arrange the appointment with him..

if the readings passed, he will activate it and do some calls with the activation department maybe.. not sure.. then he say to me it will be activated usually within 24hours.. mine activated already according to tm customer service as they told mine was already updated, but my port are still capped at 1024.. maybe the assigned tech was lazy T_T.. or maybe there is some missunderstanding or mistake done somewhere..
*
so basically he wont need to touch your PC or Modem/Router? alright thanks.

maybe you can try calling them (or go directly to TM Point) and complain..although they say speed based on "best effort", at all times they should deliver at least 80% of your speed (provided there are no technical errors).

p.s. which which area are you from?

if there is no prob.. maybe he wont.. usually their own modem n laptop was sufficient unless he didnt bring his own laptop..

Funnily, I have the same problem with the 2MB upgrade in my hometown.
I prod further while calling the TM CS and they told me the installer called another number and another person owns the line, even though the login ID is the same.

Which brings to me to the point that how hard could it be for the installer to ask for a higher cap. My 4Mb line is at 4096, and 2Mb is at 2048. I've been calling the installer twice everyday to ask him for a higher cap, he told me that he already "called KL", but my port cap is still the same. He gave me some funny local number to call and the person on the other side didn't even know what is a sync or cap laugh.gif

Anyways, could anyone tell me how to ask for a higher cap, since the CS at 100 always confuses the line speed and the sync speed.

Thanks bro! Will print out my SNR and Att readings and head to TMPoint tomorrow. Hopefully it will be a successful upgrade to 4MBps. Else, have to hope for HSBB. Sucks...

Good luck to you.

But remember that you have been warned by TM that your line might not support 4mbps, as there are many many factors that will vary the final results of your connection.

So if you apply 4mbps and in the end it's highly unstable, or you cannot reach FULL 4Mbps, and if you already signed the minimum period contract... it will be very hard for you to turn back, so it's best for you keep that in mind ; )

What IP range are you getting now? in order to request for higher cap, you need to call 100 and then make a report of slow connection first before they can transfer your call to level 2 department. They are the guys whom able to help your request.

there's is a whole lot of confusion on the non-combo streamyx upgrade package.

some say with modem some say without.

the technician says only rm160 comes with modem, the 100 operator say yes, and another 100 operator say no, the telekom technical guy that comes say he don't really know.

technician also claims that his service order specifically says no modem to be provided. Tmnut really screw big time on this, either they advert it wrongly and somewhere along the line there is some miscom.

Either way, i am not too particular on some stupid free modem provided by them.

My own question now is my modem Aztech 605EW can achieve 4MB, some how its capped at 2MB .... any idea why?

Meaning when he connects to his Billion modem and do speedtest - it can clock in 4MB.

When i check at my Aztech - its somehow capped at 2MB only.

But when i check the aztech config - its actually connected at 5MB already.

Suspect its the modem limited speed? but i've upgraded the firmware and its ADSL2 .. shocking.gif

Got my Streamyx upgraded to 4mbps but found it to be rather unstable at different times. And sometimes when I reset my router, it goes back to 1mbps download port, had to reset it again to get back to 4mbps port.

Is this normal?

the normal range.
My installer said he's exhausted all his methods and couldn't get my port capped higher, so I had to called 100

I tried to reason with the CS and my phone got cut. He doesn't seem to understand the difference between the sync rate and attainable rate. My line got cut when I ask for level 2 support.

The 2nd time, I ran around the system and hopefully the technician they sent this time is authorized to give me a higher cap.

You just got streamyx. The sync rate is at 5Mbps. Your account is not capped to 4Mbps , it will take 24-48 hours. The tech is using his special account (which is uncapped) to test the line potential

I can't even subscribe to a 2mbps in my area which is within city limits.

4mbps is just another gimmick by TM which claims to have the WIDEST coverage.
