Recently my dad was considering on getting either a LCD / LED tv ... the salesman told him that LED tv is not recommended for watching astro. If i am not mistaken he said something like the image would be too bright or something... I wonder how true is this?

anyone can enlighten me?

Its more like the image you will see will be very pixalated (full of little squares in video) because of the extreme clarity.

Face it. Current astro decoder is not mean to use on ANY HDTVs.

Thanks for the explanation... that means even LCD TV will have the same issue just that is not as severe as the LED tv ?

I heard that plasma is the better choice for watching Astro ..

I am currently using LCD to watch astro, picture quality is pretty good, the only problem is the narrow viewing angle and slow response time

Then, you need to decide Plasma or LCD/LED LCD.

All 3 major commercially available display formats have their issues, pro's and cons. There has never been anything with 100% display satisfaction. And there never will be any yet,not for this moment. Except CRT if you can still live with it and the size limitations. Use a 14" CRT and the PQ will be surely fantastic if you get what I mean.
If ever there are any format commercially available that is 100% without any issues then tell me and I will definitely buy it if the price is right to me. I have used all 3 formats and will continue to seek a 4th format.

Astro is only displaying analog video so you should expect analog type of quality. But not all channels are bad and some channels are preety good but definitely not yet to HD resolutions.

I have recently ordered Sharp LCD 77M series and wonder how it looks on Astro. Is there any brand of LCD which will make a difference with Astro viewing?

Which one is worth buying, Samsung model?

(1). LCD FHD LA46B650 = rm6k

(2). LED TV UA46B6000 = rm8k

Is it worth to pay extra rm2k for LED?

There are only Plasma & LCD at this moment. OLED will be a thing in the distant future.

LED/CCFL are only backlightings technologies supporting LCD.. tongue.gif They should not be considered a different platform

what is your budget? If you can afford the LCD LED, then go ahead.. they have much better PQ.

There is always a price to pay for higher specs and premium products..

Guess will settle down with a LCD tv.. Plasma is somehow a bit old to me and not to mention the shorter life span
