good day gentleman.

i have a question regarding filters.

i am setting up a small tank(1 feet tank) for crawfish/crayfish and i have a 400l/h hanging filter.

i am just wondering if the filter is enough the size of the tank.
the craw/crayfish is still a small one (less then 3 inch long).

in addition to the hanging filter i also have a bubble filter in the tank.

i am interested in having a living aquariums as seen in this thread but cray/crawfish are omnivores and will eat everything organic in the tank including fish and living plants.

i have succumb to the beauty of planted aquarium.

so sifus of the planted aqua world, please help me in building my tank.

what i have so far is:

a tank (12 inch x 6 inch x 8 inch )
co2 ceramic diffuser.
DIY co2 setup consisting of a co2 reactor and a catch tank.
ADA aqua soil.
hanging filter (400 liters /h)
no plants yet since i am having difficulty in obtaining them.
13 watt daylight bulb for the lighting.

anything else that i should add?

i am concentrating on growing the plants first then only i will add the fish or shrimps.

have ordered them and waiting for them to arrive by pos.

fongzai92, my water temperature in daytime is reading at 25 degrees celcius. do i still need to buy chillers since at night my water temperature will go down to about 20-22 degrees.

its a connection hose. i had to mod the filter abit cause it is actually a hangin filter
and the tubes dont really fit
so the hose is actually a connector. water is suck up not into the filter.

stupiak me.

u meant the green tube is it. thats my co2 hose running into my hob so that the cos will get more time disolving in the water.

my glass diffuser broke and i had resorted to the "bamboo chopstick" method.

guys, just a suggestion.

can there be a glossary about the normal terms u guys use at the front of the thread.

coz for newbies like me we tend to get confuse.

i thought glosso was a kind of snail and otto was a kind of guppy but i think i'm wrong.

just my 2 cents.

ok more picutres. since this is considered my experimenting tank and i am still learning about planted tanks i have a few questions that i would like to ask in the form of pictures.

1st what is that on my leaf?
user posted image
at 1st i thought it was the leaf being disease or dying but i can scrub the brown black thing off. and it only grows on this plant leaf not on any other plant i have.(fyi i have only 2 type of plant in my aquarium).

what is this plant called?
user posted image
i've search online and it says it is a watersprite. is it correct?

thank you for ur time and patience.

ok noted on the bba problem. going to tear this tank apart after CNY anyway.

thanks for the id drew on the plant.

if i were to make an iwagumi setup would this plant and a carpeting plant be sufficient or should i go for another plant?

guys, i have a question, what will happen if i just leave the BBA problem i have as it is?

i cant find excel in sibu and the bba is not spreading. it's just static there.

most of the plants i have are local plants that dont need much nutrient so i stop fertilising them for a few weeks now. the bba has stop spreading. and is concentrated on a particular plant.

i'm reading alot on bba from the cause to mothod of controlling and removing them and i stumbled upon clorox dipping.

basicly a solution of diluted clorox (1:20) is use and the plants that infected dwith bba are dipped in the solution for 2 minutes and then rinse thoroughly. anybody tried it before?

hydrogen peroxide in contact lens solutions are at 0.5% only.

u can get a 3% proof Hydrogen peroxide from pharmacies but i'm not sure u need a permit for it or not.

the pharmacy hydrogen peroxide is use to disinfect wounds.
