to grow moss Nicely.. you need cold water

mosses are easy and hardy plant to take care! its like growing grass in you garden.. the simplest of them all!
al you need is lights and clean water.. and an occasional fert dosing once a week atleast.

as you know SLS gonna close shop / gulung tikar / chap lap already.. theyre selling their stuff at clearance price! im not sure if they have anymore of the co2 tank that i bought tho! but the light sets there are damn cheap!

usually ill deal with the guy Joe a.k.a Cihclid Connections he would always gimme a damn good discount! now that he quit already and the uncle running the business.. i dont buy much there anymore

alright! im no pro but just my 2 cents, too many plants too small tank!
like all the wise aquascapers say, keep in mind for a smaller sized tank, try to go for only 3 - 4 species of plants and stick with it in numbers..

cuz if u have a small tank with alot of different type of plants it just wont look good.. looks very messy at times! try to choose about 2 or 3 species of plant and go for it kao kao! hehe u will see when u have just a few types of plants it will look more tidier and cleaner!!

the good thing is your plants looking very lush green and healthY! =DD
the middle right stem plants look thick and healthy! but it wont work as a foreground plant! push it as a background plant! show ur rocks more!

try pushing ur two foreground plants to the back and get rid of the 3 plants behind! that lush green plants would look good behind and leave some empty space on ur front right for some japanese hairgrass... try to imagine it! tall green thick bushes at the back, middle would be ur rocks.. then middle right front would be some dwarf japanese hairgrass!! DELICIOUS!!! hahahha

adremeir if u wana save a lil on cost for a tank custom make it!

activated carbon not only suck up al the bad stuff, but also the good stuff!

they'll suck up all the nutrients in the water a.k.a the ferts u put in!

if u dose liquid fert, ur activated carbon will suck up all those ferts!!

so not advisable to use activated carbon in planted tanks.

usually its filter sponge, bio rings sould suffice

if ur relying on traces in the tap wATer and fissh poo for fertilzation, its vaguely like, example -

get into an air tight room, and ur only source of oxygen is from a small potted plant. the plant does produce oxygen, but enuff supply of oxgen for a human to survive? hehehehe

somewhat likedat la the ferts u get from the tap water and fish poo!

btw u use hot water, as in baru boiled water, it will break down the yeast.. as in render it useless! yeast has its optimum temperature for its reaction with the sugar to produce co2, when u go exceed the temperature, the yeast breaks down, if u go below the optimum temperature, no co2 reaction will happen!

Added on March 25, 2010, 11:11 pmi had a MASSIVE BBA attack on the first month i got my co2 tank! all i did was regulate a steady flow of co2 and a shorter photo period, kaotim! after second month BBA never grew back.

Added on March 25, 2010, 11:17 pmactually the sugar disolves only into sugar water, and its just in a liquid form.. when we say "dissolving the sugar" we are referring that we want the sugar to slowly get dissolved by the yeast..

add hot water = sugar water

what we mean by "we want the sugar to dissolve slowly" is the sugar dissolves into co2! and also produce alcohol lah

sugar water = disolves faster

rock sugar = dissolves slower

coke has about i think 30 - 40% sugar in it? sure pressure oso kao lah haha

yeap!! the gas from coke is co2!!

not really low co2, its unstable co2! we using manual mah right... my advise, since i kena liao, all i did is shorter photo period and increase abit the co2 and try to keep it stable.. for now u will see bba everywhere.. after few weeks bba will gone!

also what i did, based on chuppys advice, clean ur filter, manual removal, then change water..

btw i also added 5 SAE into the tank.. they really eat bba!

my co2 is like 1bubble every 3 second! the good thing is that my co2 diffusor damn kheng, the bubble so small that it goes flows downwards lol!
fish still can tahan, our shrimps, kenot tahan high co2 will jump out! summore he got alot of baby shrimplets in tank lagi kenot tahan 1
