Dear All new Forte owner!

Hi! Just back from SierraGlow and meetup with Mr Choong (Operation Manager)
He is nice guy and explain to me the process, product and tools use to complete whole detailing process.

As per catalogue mentioned, the layer apply use formula from glass ~ SiO2 Silica glass, this why the layer so strong to protect paint!
They product is water based and Japan import motor tool also good without heat to kill car paint

After Mr. Choong explain to me the whole process and what I observe - 4 person + 2 spot light + 2 maitenance motor + many good product + 5 - 8 hours eletric..
I felt the fees is reasonable (RM550)
Becoz SierraGlow is direct import owner and this by pass the middle person charge.

He give this price is becoz we from new car and it may reduce the first initial cleaning & polish proces.
Normal car with many bad condition will charge RM 1600.

The warranty part sure can get and we know how to maintain it correctly like do not go for wax again after SierraGlow care becoz wax or polish can clear off the protection layer.

Important note! Advice from Mr. Choong
Please discuss with ur SA to request them to deliver the car as factory condition only after wash.
Because normall new car will go for wash and wax before handover to owner, but the service is request by SA or Naza and pass to outside normal cleaning/wash car service. They will normal wash and use cheap product to wax ur car! So many new car come to SierraGlow got many mark!!!

Is there any matching 2.0 emblem for Forte??..hehe. I noticed that Forte 2.0 exterior looks no different from the 1.6. So nothing to proud of for Forte 2.0 owner right? If got 2.0 emblem, can stick with SX emblem at the back of the car & becoming Forte 2.0 SX proud forte 2.0 owner (to be)..hehe

If now can lock in this prices RM(550) ,i will go for this SIERRAGLOW care,bcoz very worth ....

Yup, he told me tat he have receive confirmation the car already arrived at Port, will be deliver to showroom in these few days 4-5..
Once the car arrive can test drive the 2.0 forte. If happy, loan approved can get car in less than 5 days also.
He told me the Setapak KIA Motors is the main office and service centre. If cant deliver the car for customer, he will tiaw his boss.

i think no need to install until Captor alarm.... no hurt feeling but our forte is still a forte.... not the BMW 5 series... so i think a Captor Alarm will overkill....
i Love the Forte very much but i really think a Captor Alarm is just too much....

i think this emblem will require wiring which might void the warranty... better double check before install this..

i also like this very much but i will only install this after my warranty expire....

i'm still thinking of this option (if really have, as my SA didn't come back to me on this yet.)..

Just thinking that extend the warranty will really help as maybe at that time they will say: this part are not entitled to claim and what so ever....

this is the dilemma of having 5 years warranty...
sg forte drivers they hate 5 yearsr warranty as need to go bac and service their cars for 5 years...

i think most probably i will stick with whatever warranty period they provided for free, extend to another 3 years maybe good if your car break down due to gearbox, engine or the ECU/ eletronic. But if KIA dare to give until 10 years warranty in US and 5 years at the rest of the world (except malaysia), personally i think it won't be a issue even though we are jsut given 2 years warranty.

market in US is huge. they can cover the loss in warranty with future car release.
wonder why in malaysia just 2 years warranty. but i also think it is still good. the only problem if you're travel a lot. coz the warranty is either 2 years or after surpass some mileage right? what is the mileage, 50K? 100k?

Yeah, i think stuff like tyre, steering wheel, maybe rim will be local assemble. They won't take out the 6 air bags etc.

So, steering wheel will be NAZA emblem...

I will crazy read this Forte 2.0SX story.
I had make decision to downgrade to 1.6SX and now this version make me feel angry if true...

Concern: Silicones can "crosslink" and "drift" into the painted surfaces and penetrate into the pores of the paint. Every time the surface is washed, the silicone will be driven deeper into the paint. Once silicones have permeated the paint, the primer and the base metal, the new paint that was sprayed over the surface cannot adhere properly to the surface. The silicones make the new paint "foam" which causes minute pockets of air in the newly applied paint. This is called "air entrapment".

Concern: If it melts (burn), it's deadly!
Note:  Teflon can be a good paint protection if it applies through a polarized system. This polarized systems requires Teflon paint sealant to be applied onto paint surface in 2 steps. The 1st step is to positively charge the paint surface using a certain chemical to open the pores of the paint surface. The 2nd step is to apply the Teflon paint sealant onto the positively charge paint surface. Since Teflon has negative charge, Teflon paint sealant will create a strong bond with the paint surface that has been positively charged through the first step preparation. Teflon coating is a valuable process to protect the new paint of a car. This protects the paints from scratching, acid action of vegitable leaves. Also during subsequent rubbing and polishing of cars, it will not remove base paints due to teflon coating.

My View:
To protect our beloved Forte on the long run, i feel more confident with PPS. With the once a year (provided you maintenance the car well,  otherwise, go back after 6months) chemical wash maintenance, it provides boasted quality, of course come with a price (RM120). As for SierraGlow's silicone, am doubtful on the 'no follow-up treatment' claim. Also, the penetration into the body paint and air entrapment ??

Shine & Shield on follow-up maintenance & warranty:
Although a car may have been pps teflon coated but it will still gather dirt, tar and contaminants over the months and that is why we ask them to come back to do a pps chemical cleaning periodically. If they come back later than a year the contaminants would have accumulated more and become more stubborn and we will have a tougher job removing them and in such circumstances we may have to charge extra if the condition is really bad.

The delay in maintenance schedule would not void the warranty which is against oxidation, fading and loss of shine. However, the shine may not looks as good and the paint surface may not be as smooth due to built up of dirts if the car is not chemically cleaned periodically under the maintenance schedule.

I'm going for Sierra Glow to 'glow' my Forte.
my Dec 28th is confirmed @ RM550.

Anyway, here's what Mr Choong of SG replied via sms:

Hi Julz..Yes, your appointment date and price is confirm.
The increase is not due to our popularity but our promotion period end in Dec '09.
A salesman talk sometimes not so reliable but respond from Autoworld Peugeot forum members will be a better answer.
(This is to my question..what's so good about SG compared to S&S?)
Anyhow all those who do the booking this month for 2010 WEEKDAYS can still enjoy our current promotion price.

So, my guess is if you are still keen to 'glow' your car with SG, call Mr Choong and confirm with him to give you 2009 rate for 2010.
But..i think must book now! I'm not sure if book now Promo price RM550 will be valid till when? Make sure you check...Good luck!
