Good report can't fly one lar. Even can fly, it will drop back to pre announcement price after few days. Not need to give example you also know, right?

Genting eyes earnings recovery
Published: 2009/11/25 MALAYSIAN gaming company Genting Bhd today reported a profit in the third quarter as more people visited its casinos and flagged a satisfactory performance for the full year. “Whilst the global economy continues to show signs of recovery, the group remains cautiously optimistic of its prospects,†Genting said in its results statement. Genting, valued at US$7.8 billion, posted July-September net profit of RM371 million against a loss of RM40 million a year ago. Analysts do not provide quarterly earnings forecast for Malaysian companies, but Genting’s third-quarter net profit accounted for 38 per cent of analysts forecasts of RM967 million for the full year. The group’s unit Genting Singapore is building Resorts World Sentosa (RWS), the city state’s second integrated resort, and it is also the largest casino operator in the United Kingdom. The casino in Singapore, seen as one of the group’s key earnings drivers in the future, is on track for a January opening. “We presume that Genting Singapore will command 45 per cent share of the S$4 billion gaming market,†Andrew Lee, head of research at Maybank Investment Bank said in a recent note. Genting, Southeast Asia’s largest gaming company, also has substantial interests in oil palm plantations, power generation and property development which it deems as non-core businesses for sale at the right price. Out of 22 analysts tracked by Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S, 18 had buy or strong buy recommendations on Genting, with only two rating it a sell or underperform. Dividend surprise. Petronas Dagangan’s 1HFY3/10 net profit was in line, being 51% of full-year forecast though it was 61% of consensus stimate. An interim DPS of 15 sen was a surprise, higher than expectation of 12 sen, matching 2Q09’s. Forecasts by 2-3.2% as bump up our EBIT margin for non-APM products by 1-2%. FY10-12 DPS from 45.0 sen to 48.0 sen, giving a yield of 5.5%.

India - the future growth engine. KFC currently has 3 restaurants in India and will be opening 2 new restaurants before year-end in Mumbai and Pune. Management is targeting 15-20 new outlets moving into 2010. India is the growth catalyst for KFC given that the Malaysian market is rather saturated market, and may only accommodate another 200-300 new restaurants. KFC plans to move into other parts of India, which would be its growth engine. The group is also looking at expanding to the rural areas in Malaysia particularly, East Malaysia.

If things get worst, it could trigger a second phase of crisis, although it is dwarf compared to last year post Lehman time, but it is a wake up call that the last year crisis is not totally over. But for sure the worst is over, but still there are pocket of problems around which just like aftermath earthquake.
