Thanks for all the comments. Wanted to add one thing: My pictures don't do the laptop justice. The body is made almost totally from machined aluminium, very nice. Not quite like the Mac unibody though. The Mac has a "smooth" finish, dm3 has a more "raw" finish - you can see the texture of the aluminium in the second last photo.

Apologies for the poor photo quality, was in the office and all I had was my phone camera.

Nice design , nice spec and nice price ( price included external optical drive ) But , for a 13" CULV laptop without internal DVD drive , the weight of nearly 2kg is disappointed .

By the way , mind to show the photo of the external optical drive ?

can' really rely on the benchmark on notebookcheck, since the mark is average between multiple notebook, which can be using different vram of the gpu and different cpu which also affect much on the score.

From what I've read:

- the Intel/Nvidia version is better for long battery life (up to 10 hours vs up to 6 hours).
- the AMD/ATI version is a little better for performance (some reviewers complained about the ULV C2D performance... but I haven't got any 1st hand experience.

Truth is, I would have bought the Intel version - that battery life is mouth watering! BUT it was not available at that time... oh well.

How much did it cost u? Wanna trade one unit of your C2D with mine? biggrin.gif

cannot fit in bro ... this is like a higher end netbook ... and is in the thin and light series, fitting a dvd rom in will make it thicker and heavier ... defeats the purpose .. and how often do u really use the dvd rom anyway ...

dm3-1020AX (AMD/ATI version with 2GB RAM and 320GB HDD) is RM2,699 RRP... the 3DMark06 benchie shouldn't be too far off from mine, 2,310 3DMarks. So yup it actually is a fair comparison. However, I think the Lenovo is lighter. Heard it comes with stock 3 or 4 cell battery though.

yes, but his using the intel/nvidia version which is RM3899, not the amd/ati version.
do forgive me if I sounded harsh, I just don't want people who just passing by here misunderstood that the 2.7k version hp dm3 is better than the ideapad y series while the dm3 being tested is 3.9k version and ended up disappointment when they bought it.
since on Perfomance test 7, no spec of which dm3 is being told.

yeah should be lighter then as the batt does make a big bulk of the weight ...

LOL - like i freakin said, i saw that they were using that benchmarking tool, so thats what i compared it with ...

i even posted my result of 3dmark06 at this thread http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1109389 which has the result from the alienware model ... so what, i find whatever tool people are using and if there is a result, thats what i will use, if one is to come in here and make such an assumption like what u mentioned ...than they are just plain dumb ...

btw read what i quoyed u saying again ...

CODE
I just don't want people who just passing by here misunderstood that the 2.7k version hp dm3 is better than the ideapad y series while the dm3 being tested is 3.9k version and ended up disappointment when they bought it.

this is plain dumb, if one makes such an assumption that would would mean that person has not read everything nor do they really know what they are actually reading here ...

they should read from the top if they are really reading forums to find out more on this particular line ...

Added on November 29, 2009, 1:33 amand yeah shreaker, why dont change this to a proper dedicated thread for this model ...

this is a new model and pretty high end for a sub laptop / sub netbook ...

hahaha - no point arguing also rite ... most importantly, everyone got to read from first page if they wanna know everything ...

biggrin.gif

to be frank, i have not used the laptop outside my room yet ...

batt removed and using power only ...

i had the test running on real temp the other day, normal idle as low as 32 and up to 55++ on a afternoon ...
user posted image

Separate graph for cpu core 1 and 2 and gpu as well for the idle duration and i ran win experience indexing to stress it ...

and surprisingly it brought it up a little from 4.6 to 4.7 this time around and this is in my room no aircond, just a fan blowing my direction ...

not an issue but using it the afternoon will be warm but with a fan blowing at it or using it an airconditioned room, its not noticeable at all ...

hot spot on top would be the left lower part under the keyboard, maybe thats where the hdd is ...

bottom not sure as i have a cooler blowing underneath ...

Added on December 4, 2009, 4:36 ami have also found out that the current 500gb 7.2k hdd is actually a Seagate Momentus ... from the part number ... fair review and is the same hdd on the macbook pro ...

Been informed that currently there is only the 5.4k model in the market not the 7.2k ones ...

http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/products/...omentus_7200.4/

http://www.google.com.my/search?rlz=1C1GGL...8&q=ST9500420AS

This would be the interesting fact from Seagate ...

Seagate® Momentus® hard drives provide the optimum combination of performance, capacity and mobility in a 2.5-inch form factor. They are also a good fit in certain non-PC applications, including external storage, copiers/printers and entry-level blade servers

hmmm maybe you should have gone trying a diff brand before buying, these are some of the things u cant change ...

talking bout the left key yeah - i would actually say the up and down key should be proportionate to the left and right ... that could be my only complain ...
