hi, i can get RSSI -78 and CINR +19

but TX POWER = 0

i move to other angles and other locations in my house - RSSI can range from -90 to -72 and CINR +13 to +20.

i can maybe connect when really lucky, maybe once a day with TX POWER 13-15. but after 5-10 mins just disconnects and never gets TX POWER again.

now i am on W1GGY 7 days trial.

should i get or not ? or is it a base station issue ? or the P1 Router would have better TX POWER ?

As i understand, TX POWER is the transmitting power of the modem back to the base station, right ? this means the USB W1GGY is not generating enough signal to contact base ?

i was testing the W1GGY previously, now i changed to the router DV 230, now getting this. but the numbers fluctuate sometimes, esp the TX POWER jumps between 5dBm and 10dBm, sometimes go to 15dBm for one second and comes back to 5 or 10 again.

those numbers above is when the modem is not receiving or transmitting (idle). when it is receiving data the TX POWER goes to 15-18dBm and when uploading(transmitting) goes up to 26dBm.

my DV 230 on my fridge now, its a tall fridge so my DV 230 is positioned high. still under 7 days trial period, should i keep it and get contracted for 12 months or just return it and get my money back ?

Account no : 103674735

PS : i added more height, put a biscuit tin on top of the fridge. added approx 30 cm. now RSSI : 71 and CINR : 23.

should i add more height ? a chair on top of the fridge maybe ?

anyway, i am on the 9th floor of my apartment.

P1, finally i able to upload a small attachment for your perusal...wow this is a miracle (sarcasm), i finally can upload a small file here which i can't since march.

see the attachment and tell me what the flying fook i can do with such connection everynight since the day i move back to hometown here! Please appreciate this post of mine cause this is seriously a miracle.

Do me and you a favour...another round of 99 buck waive for this month usage...

P1 disappointed users, this month would be the third month i am getting my fee waive. do not pay them and request for waiver if your connection is bad for even 2 weeks! Please cease your payment till problem solve and test it at least 2 weeks after fixes.

Please do not return the modem and cancel your subscription, it will just make P1 job easier.

dude, try to place the modem on a higher place. not necessarily near windows. i tried near windows also no use. placing the modem on top of fridge (nearly 6 feet) helps. the higher u put it the better the signal.

after u place it at a high place. turn it 5 degrees wait 1 minute and check the signal, keep turning 5 degrees till u have turned 360 degrees. make sure u check every position after 1 minute. as long the CINR goes high (about 20dBm) then try adding height to the modem, put a book or something under it till u get TX POWER about 10, its quite stable.

i have tried at every location in my house, including in the toilet. the thing with P1 Wimax is that you have to be really work hard to get a good signal.

any idea what firmware are you guys on for the DV 230 router ?

mine on v1.3.7-g1.2.6-p1 - Thu Sep 17 15:53:28 2009

i am sure there are newer versions, P1 haven't updated mine yet. its supposed to be OTA.

Hi, I'm using the Wimax DV modem and I'm sharing my wifi with my roommate.

here's my problem:

Whenever he's connected to my wifi network, I'll be having super slow connection that I cant even load google properly.  sometimes I cant even load a page T^T

Is there any other way I can limit his usage or at least makes my connection speed better than him?

I'm using the old presario C series while he has the CQ40 series laptop, I'm suspecting that his wifi receiver is much better than mine.

We're paying 60-40, Help me T^T"
I might gonna kill someone for this seriously.

u can connect the P1 modem to an internet wifi router. then setup the P1 as the gateway of the Wifi router. choose a router than can configure a certain IP address as priority user. lock using MAC address so you always get same IP address. so you will have higher priority compared to your roommate.

wifi router - around RM200-300

why some people got firmware as below ? and mine is older.

is both for DV-230 or the newer one for DS-300 ?

anyone care to share their DV 230 firmware version ?

Uh, I don't plan on buying any wifi router. is there no other way?
Oh, and even when I tried using the LAN cable and let him use the wifi. I still has low speed connection.

Is it true that for DV230 the LAN connection is slower than the wifi? my other friend said so.
or there's some configuration that need to be made?

i called P1 and ask them, it is the latest firmware for DV 320.

no other way to control bandwidth. maybe your roommate is torrenting / downloading. so he/she is using up all the bandwidth.

are you using laptop / desktop computer ?

connect the DV 230 to your computer, then use wifi from your computer and share to your roommate. and you have to set up proxy on your computer. but then if your computer off, your friend cannot online as well. troublesome.

impossible like that. try a different network cable. cable is always better than wifi.

cable 100MBps

wifi 54MBps

I'm using the white thin cable provided in the box.
*
use your own network cable. shorter the better. the cable they gave i just left in the box. does not look like a proper network cable...

also sometimes your network port if have issues for e.g. if long time never use and corroded then will have bad connection and errors.

check this out. it should say 0. even after connected for many hours.

I just 'steal' this cable from my neighbor. lol no la.. do i need to set anything on the modem?

change cable does not require any config. its plug and play. it should say "connected 100mbps" when u connect the new cable. means everything is ok.

dude, ask them to change to DV 230, last time i tried the W1GGY usb modem also sucks, totally no signal at all. i screw them and change to DV 230 modem. somehow DV 230 stronger signal, much much stronger. maybe DS 300 using older chipset / inferior antenna. no point if 3 tmies change also they bring same type modem. LPPL as penang ppl would say.

afaik the DV 230 has better signal isolation and noise reducing technology, because it can reduce interference from its own wifi dongle. wifi = 2.4Ghz and wimax = 2.39Ghz.

interference from your neighbours wifi can affect your DS 300 as well. if your neighbours all have wifi, and the coverage overlaps it would create terrible noise in the signal.

now look at mine, DV 230. remember, my W1GGY had 0 signal. totally no reception at all.

PS : I am not P1 reseller. I was skeptical at first too, since the USB W1GGY really was terrible beyond comprehension.

Added on May 20, 2010, 5:43 pmalso i believe the modem will surely burn out its antenna with TX POWER so high. antenna will get oxidized and perform badly after a while. make sure they dont replace with "refurbished" modem.

hi, i would like to know why unused balance from the monthly quota is not carried forward to next month automatically ?

since i am paying per MB, it should be carried forward, or dont implement quota at all.

Hi Jananan,

Usage wont be carry forwarded to the next month since there is new bill generate and so the usage will be reset as well.

Thank You. biggrin.gif

P1 Wimax

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

when i registered, someone told me that the unused amount from the 5GB quota will be carried forward to the following month.

so in that case why dont you reduce the bill.... since you dont give me my MBs ?

Added on July 14, 2010, 9:13 pmso i am using RM 49 package.

RM49 / 5000MB = RM 0.0098 per MB

so since i just used 2000MB this month, it should be RM 0.0098 x 2000

= RM 19.60 is the amount payable since P1 dont let me carry forward unused

1000ms = 1 second. you do the math and you will know how slow is that.

why the packets are routed through singapore ?

why the delay of the packets at each router so slow ?

takes 5 minutes to load each webpage.

is this what i am paying for ?

5 years ago, my mobile phone had faster internet using 2G - GPRS connection.

as you can see, the response times from my computer to the P1 Wimax Modem is fast, delay in miliseconds.

and the response times to the P1 Wimax access point is fine, delay in miliseconds and maintaining a 10MBps link.

but its all shit from there onwards, the packets are going through more than 30 hops in some cases.

My PC --> P1 Modem = fine

P1 Wimax Modem --> Nearest P1 Antenna / Router = fine

P1 connection to the internet = not fine

i called you guys several times.

same thing everytime, what color is the light on the modem ? try other dns server, restart your modem, dont move the modem.

P1 Wimax cons its customers.

Its what they do best.
