D90 with kit lens (one of the best kit lens around) is about 4k+ depends where u looking for. D5000 is cheaper though, but i still prefer the D90, feature/specs wise and the built quality, Nikon still the best, 2nd come close is Sony alpha. Canon always give me the cheap built feel except the 5D and above. and Canon you pay more for less features/specs.

No, i am alphatard~ Sony Alpha user here~ cheaper and yet more features to play with~ even lens and accessories are cheaper~

But you gotta understand, D90 is a level higher than 500D. Well, its up to you, me and my gang are always on the dark side, which is the opposing side of Canon.

He could be a C fan~ i would advise you~ go to the shop and try each models and get the feel of your own~ i love the solid feel of the D90~ especially its dual dial which works like a semi-pro and it comes handy~

hahahahaha~ as we always say~ even the entry level~ u pay more for the 1000D but u get way less than Nikon and Sony which is cheaper~

Check out this 2 community~ besides~ all alphas are ready even for wireless flashes for more creative lighting in the dark photoshoot~ and its free since the wireless feature is built in in all alpha bodies and flashes~

thats why you pay more and you get less, like their popular line, "delighting you always". Right~
C is good, but i only respect those with 5D and above. Of coz with a big tag price, unless you have big budget.
But if i ever have such big budget, i will go for the darkside, N. Good built and superior features.

Sony is cheap and plenty of features/specs coz they are still new in the DSLR scene and picking up fast after they bought over Konica Minolta in less than 3 years ago. So the good old Minolta lens is compatible with new sony alpha bodies too~
