imho, the USB SC is just for those gamers that go for LAN party, tournaments, or CC to get the sound they wanted to. That's it. Cause different PCs will give different sounds.. So, that's only for gamers who wanted the same sound anywhere they game, and for tournaments.

And, btw.. How can you ppl compare Siberia v2 and Megaladon? It's like comparing super cars and street tuner cars.. From what i read about the spec at SS website, v2 is just a improve version of the Siberia v1, which gives you better sound quality, and the mic thingy won't be so mafan..

Worth it or not, it depends on users.. Some might think it's worth getting, some might not.. For me, cause i got it for a cheaper price, and i went to CC for gaming quite often.. That's why i've gotten mine..

Obviously price and performance ratio here.
Well I can't comment how much you got yours as I was doing a earlier comparison on the stated price that people already posted, as I said earlier better options out there for the price and performance. Some would have just gotten a Creative or Asus USB sound card and yes they are small USB external solutions, or some would go with even cheaper options. In my book I would say paying 500 for the price range of a pair of cans with a barely mediocre SC does not really do the price justice. I rather have just the cans with a more competitive pricing.
*
Agreed with you. If not because of the cheaper price, I don't think I'll get the SS USB SC also.. This so call gaming headphones, still can't be on par with audiophile headphones for sure! MadMan knows very well.. LOL rclxms.gif

2 different category liao lu..
Audiophiles confirm better coz the price also better..
Lol..

But really, does the USB SC do anything significant enough 2 be noticed??
*
If you notice well enough, some audiophile headphones price are almost the same as so called "gaming headphones".

Dunno about others, but for me.. I got the sound i wanted every time i go CC for gaming.

Well, if you are not those gamers that go CC or LAN parties often, imho it is not advisable to get the USB soundcard. Unless you've got the money, by all means go ahead. The 7.1 is virtual only, most of the onboard soundcard supports 5.1.. People that gotten the soundcard, because they wanted the same sound anywhere(CC or LAN parties) they go.

@Insatiable, If you were thinking of getting headphones for purely gaming, especially fps the 5hv2 it is. And if you wanted 50% gaming 50% music/movies, then siberia v2 is the choice.

5hv2 is specially made for fps gamers i believe. If you were to listen music or movies using 5hv2, it won't be nice if compared to Siberia v2.

Pricing wise, the 5hv2 irrc srp is around RM315 without the USB, with USB cost about RM385
Siberia V2 is about RM389

if i wanna plug into mp3, i use my razer m100 or moray+.
but then again just cos siberia has 3.5mm plug doesnt mean it sounds better for music.
and i believe those ppl who have mp3 players already use something smaller...i've never yet seen anyone walking around in public with gaming headsets while listening to mp3s...i guess mostly its cos the mic jack will be irritating.
*
My friend is Aussie does. He uses the red Siberia summore. Maybe not in Malaysia, but I guess in western countries people does that.

@victor2212, I'm using the SS sound card. IMO, the sound card actually is meant for those people that goes to CC or LAN party often and they want to have the same sound wherever they go.

For me, I lazy wanna find and plug those 2 jacks into the CPU. Just plug the USB..

If you ask about the sound quality, it doesn't really make much difference for me. Of course, different people has different opinions on it. So some might said it's worth and vice versa.

Got some1 selling the SS OEM usb soundcard in garage sale cheaper than market if im not mistaken..but siberia with USB already good in price nowadays ~ biggrin.gif
*
Is it the one selling 60 bucks? If yes, I don't think it's SS OEM. Both sound card using the same chip set, iirc.

Added on June 2, 2010, 6:51 pmOh, hellkeeper.. They did sell the 5H v2 sound card separately? Or you found it on GS someone selling?

And if anyone can answer, what's the difference between the SS usb sound card and the 5H v2 usb sound card?

I'm getting a HS this weekend.
Since I post here means I'm gonna get a Siberia.
But still have a bit of questions since I'm super noob at gaming HS:
1)Any major difference can't be heard with Siberia V1 with and without the USB soundcard for 7.1 while gaming?
2)Siberia V1 with Soundcard VS. Siberia V2 without soundcard?
*
For me, not much of a difference with or without the USB soundcard. If were to choose, the V2 w/o sound card have my vote. =)

Thnx  biggrin.gif
Without the soundcard, still can get that 5.1/7.1 surround for gaming?!
I primarily want to get this HS for that surround, cannot blast my 5.1 sound system in the wee hours... neighbours sweat.gif
*
If without the sound card, it just stereo headphones. Well, If you want surround and have some spare cash, look for something more decent. Cause, I think the SS sound card is not really worth it tho'. I bought it cause it's convenient for me to bring along the headset to CC and got it with cheaper price.
