I'm about to go to TMpoint to get myself the 4Mb deal..I'm currently using 2Mb now...are you sure in it capped like that?...I'm in JB

2mbps is good enough already. TM Net has been throttling flv streaming (youtube and similar) and rapidshare. It makes HSBB pointless, meaningless and worthless.

Previously using 1Mb line...last 2 weeks upgrade to 2mb line..need to pay RR88 for installation and get Wifi modem.

Today, with the new package, went to upgrade from 2mb to 4mb...they say need to pay another RM88...

Didn't take...no regrets...well...maybe next time got better package....

is fake stupid ppl only will follow the upgrade...
need to make exiting customer stay back with it 24 months = 2 years please think proper before switch.

if TM really wan to keep existing customer better provide free upgrade 1 level for all user.

current i was using 512 package already 5++ years already just waiting other alternative broadband to hit my area.

IMO, if TM is really wanting to promote broadband in the country, apart from improving the quality of service, what they should have done (at least a year ago) is to upgrade all existing customers to the next higher package automaticaly at the current price that the customer is paying. That is, a 512Kbat RM66 should now be a 1Mb. A 1Mb at RM88 should now be a 2Mb etc. There is also room to adjust the pricing a little lower as well. This can be done as TM already has a customer base to statistically compute  if such adjustments would affect their bottom line. Unlike a new player who cannot do such as they don't have a large existing customer base yet.

Those willing to sign-up for the 24 month contract should also get proper clarification whether the cancellation fee is really RM350 as it says that is an administrative fee. Normally, if you cancel, you are liable to pay up for the rest of the contract period. Make sure this RM350 is not something on top of that as well.

TM seems to complicate things by having so many different packages with different conditions and options. In the end, it all comes to the same thing. We need a phone line, we need the internet access. Even with the combo packages supposedly with no line rental, it does not differe much with standard package with phone rental (based on before this offer).  Packages should be stream lined. I guess the TM marketing people need to do all these packages to show that they are doing their job...
Spot on analysis. Even on the verge of the launch of HSBB, they're still offering archaic speeds of 384/512kbps. These should have been phased out long ago. We can see prices are maintained but ironically so are the speed as well. IMHO, these upgrade promotions are redundant, even if they do not want to lower the prices, at least they should have automatically upgrade the speed to the next higher speed package as faster speeds are introduced. How long more do they want to offer 384/512kbps packages?? Judging from the pricing schedule so far, it would be pointless to even offer HSBB if it's going to be priced beyond people's means.

Further, a quick browse of TMnet's website will show how messy the layout are and how confusing the packages can be. Why do they still want to offer 4Mb/s for RM268 under Standard Packages whereas you can get 4Mb/s for RM160 under the Combo Packages? There should be only ONE list of packages for home users and ONE list of packages for business users. Instead, for home users, we have Standard Packages, the Streamyx Combo Packages, and now the Upgrade Packages, all with varying speed, prices, and T&C.

Not only are all these type of packages and promotions confusing, some of them are just downright unfair to existing customers. A good example would be the upgrade to 1Mb/s under the Upgrade Packages. Those who upgrade to 1Mb/s will only need to pay RM71 per month. However there are a lot of existing users that pays RM88 for 1Mb/s who may not want to upgrade their package. So now we have a situation where a long time user of streamyx continuing to pay almost RM20 more than a new subscriber of the same speed. Talk about screwing your long time customers rolleyes.gif Anyway I seriously questioned the competence of employees they hired who manage to come up with all these nonsense.

Maybe so that when HSBB is out, they can say it cost RM388 for 10Mb. Then also offer a combo or other offer package at a lower price than that. So everyone thinks they are getting a good deal for the new 10Mb package...?

Exactly. But of course TM will say that the RM88 1Mb user is also given an offer to upgrade at a reduced cost and it is the user's own problem for not upgrading...

Again, the better way would be for TM just to upgrade everyone to the next higher package. That may be a better PR move than offering upgrades and asking user to pay extra with a 24 month contract.

You must look at the price for an entry point package to make proper comparison. Say for an entry point package of 1Mb, RM88 is still high. But they need to keep that so that when they charge for a 10Mb package later, you are comparing that price against the high 1Mb price, so the difference may not be too much. But if the entry point 1Mb price is say RM40, then the higher package prices will start to look expensive.

Nope, 2Mb combo to 4Mb combo........first 4 months RM140, after that RM150.............. rclxms.gif rclxms.gif rclxms.gif. You have to tell them you want "Streamyx Super Upgrade Deals", not regular upgrade. For regular upgrade charge of Rm88 will be imposed, so make sure you take "Streamyx Super Upgrade Deals".........

All BB even commercial bank punish existing customer while new customers get better deal, it is same across.

See how those 3G BB, now BB providers offer Rm48 or 88 for new sign up, while exisitng customers need to pay more than that. While for banks, new customers being offered lot of goodie while exisitng loyal customers get none.
