can't make factory image restore, they got some specific code on the bios and mbr, so that's why if clean install the recovery partition can't put back it unless go to service center ask them to put in, which is $$$$ ><

other way would be using something like acronis true image then image the whole windows~
save it other hard drive
and burn the bootable disc by acronis
later if need to restore, just boot the cd and browse the image file, then can restore, should be just around 20minute if its not that big file~

yeah, just need some hdd space
each of it can couple of GB depends how big your windows + application~
no illegal, it will back to the same before you backup.
unless you restore to other computer, then that wil lbecome another illegal

first you backup first the whole windows, it will save everything on the C:\
then later you can restore back using acronis.
it will become exactly the same when you create the backup, every single file~
so the best if you clean install everything, install all the essential application that less get updated like office~
then backup it, so next time no need to clean install, just need to restore, take around 20 minutes (4gb file) to working states~

for xp and my application, takes up to 4GB.
windows 7 surely would take more than that

if you want really clean.,
1) install acronis
2) create bootable disc
3) format, install your application
4) boot the cd, can do backup
later if want to restore
either:
A)  install acronis, run it
B ) boot the cd
2) choose restore
3) browse the image file
4) wait for finish
5) done
