@astria: why not consider nvidia, they already have openCL support, and CUDA is also quite widely used, compared to ATi Stream

CUDA is Nvidia's solution to use their graphic card to do some general processing..like converting movies or photo processing
i tried before using this software called Badaboom, the conversion speed is real time, or slightly faster then real time.. OpenCL is a common API for graphic card to do general processing, it's kinda new yet, but both red and green camp are adopting to it, and the best part is, it's card company(nvidia and ati) independent, and i recall it's even platform independent...meaning linux also can have openCL..with that, in game cpu calculation, maybe like havok, if Intel ever allow, will also be calculated using GPU, so that developers can throw in more realistic effects, i am still not sure how far can openCL go, but i think it can help out video conversion and stuff also |

and if u plan to get some notebook cooler for the GPU temp to drop...be reminded that the GPU is at the left front side..so if u want the notebook cooler to cool down the gfx card, then u'll have to get some cooler that extends to there..

no la..actually, go to nvidia control panel, there is a display aspect ratio of soemthing..then there is a scaling, right now i think ur option is no scaling, try using use nvidia scaling, i think that one would force non-wide screen games to full screen, but beware, the graphics will become slightly blurry and long...

ya la..where else u can get a laptop that can play medium crysis or max setting with 2x AA in L4D with that price..
but i have a suggestion, if ur table have space and u still have budget, also and if u don really move ur laptop too much, get an external keyboard, cos when u play game the GFX card gonna be damn hot, 90C++ in some driver versions..and graphic card is located in the left palm rest area, that would affect the overall usage experience..but other then that, no big deal..speaker kinda kick arse also in terms of clarity |

QUOTE(evolution120 @ Dec 9 2009, 01:52 PM) diff place already eh? actually laptops internal design all different depending on models/manufacturer one...so where is the hdd location then? top left speaker part? lolx, thats my gpu.. for s42, i recall left palm rest GPU, further up is CPU, then right arm rest is HDD slot Added on December 9, 2009, 2:14 pm@evo: all this while i been knowing that ION is the future of netbooks/nettops intel's GMA is just too weak to handle ANYTHING...atom as well..i am waiting for VIA Nano + ION 2 to come out..that one prolly will prove gaming in netbook possible This post has been edited by BBXiong: Dec 9 2009, 02:14 PM |

@astria: looks interesting as well...but since ION2 they say gonna have at least 2x the shader and say performance also gonna be at least doubled..i wanna see how it end up..
how powerful is the 3200 HD anyway?? cos if i got netbook also i sure do gaming..maybe some light/not that time consuming games.. |
