wanna ask, if higher the gpu memory = the higher resolution can use or the smoother the game can be?

do u think s42 can handle games till 2012 smoothly??

depending on the GPU, it could be either or both of the improvements...

conventionally speaking, ATi cards have the tendency to have slightly better performance with more RAM, ut for Nvidia card, only resolution in most cases...

9600M GT 256MB GDDR3 is still better than HD4570 512mb gddr3... 9600M GT has more SP to start with (32 vs 80 [16x5])...

lol, how to compare with 8600M GS sia...

in that case, that probably mean the 9600M GT is suffering from lack of RAM...

as for ati, for rough estimation, divide it by 5, so 80/5 = 16 pipelines
9600m got 32~

and why ati hafta /5?

Added on December 10, 2009, 12:25 am@astria

okaye.. lets make it simple,

9600gt>4570

= 9600gt can have same settings with 4570 but with lower resolution?

actually, pipeline is a pretty old term.. it should be stream processors now...

as for the /5 for ATi, that's their architecture, compared to Nvidia's...

as for 9600M GT vs HD4570, i would say that the 9600M GT dun have sufficient frame buffer to go higher detail, thus HD4570 can have more eye candy...

looks like the limit of 256MB frame buffer has been reached...

if i get to sell s41 for 2k, mostly getting s42 just to "camouflage" from my dad that i've just changed my lappy..
