right... using both SidePort and shared RAM raises the score for HD3300 to 3.9... sweat.gif

SidePort = the dedicated RAM for the integrated HD3300... nod.gif afaik, only ATi have such thing...

juz raised the speed of the SidePort from 800MHz to 932MHz... will see how it goes...

SidePort is the VRAM for HD3300 lor...

the clock speed of that can be adjusted thru the BIOS...

Added on November 23, 2009, 12:21 amalright, also 3.9... trying 1000MHz now...

SidePort only exist for HD3300, HD3200 and HD4200 (aka all the integrated graphic)...

this term is only used for integrated graphic GPU only...

for the dedicated ones, stick with VRAM to avoid the confusion...

Added on November 23, 2009, 12:25 amnah... 1000MHz cmi... can see artifacts...

ah right, i get wat u mean now... the reason y Windows think u ve so much VRAM is becuz of HyperMemory, which the dedicated GPU would borrow some system RAM if there's insufficient VRAM to use..

well, depends on how u define "better"

HD3300 has more raw performance (higher core clock and Sideport (Sideport is compulsory for HD3300 but optional for HD4200 and HD3200), but HD4200 has more features (eg dual HD decoder, DX10.1)...

HyperMemory = dedicated GPU borrowing RAM

SidePort = integrated GPU having it's own VRAM to use (thus no need to borrow RAM)

yup...

SidePort is a pretty interesting feature i would say...

it gives the integrated 2 more options when comes to frame buffer...

1) borrow from system - the normal perception of integrated GPU
2) SidePort only - no need to borrow, good for system with low RAM
3) borrow and SidePort together - for maximum performance...

Added on November 23, 2009, 12:36 amanyway, juz raised the core clock by 10%... still doesn't help though... can still see the lagginess of Aero when maximizing windows...

that's for systems without SidePort...

for HD3300, it can be shared RAM only, SidePort only, or Shared RAM + SidePort together...

Added on November 23, 2009, 12:40 amcore up 20% and SidePort @ 932MHz is still bad... doh.gif

that probably means must use SidePort + shared RAM for best Aero effect...
