if you want really clean.,
1) install acronis
2) create bootable disc
3) format, install your application
4) boot the cd, can do backup
later if want to restore
either:
A) install acronis, run it
B ) boot the cd
2) choose restore
3) browse the image file

QUOTE(sordanny @ Nov 24 2009, 02:57 PM)
i don't quite understand part 2 create bootable disc
does it mean the acronis true image is bootable?
meaning after i format without any OS i can just insert the bootable acronis true image & it will install
*
okay, just back from class~

after you install acronis true image,
there got one menu on start menu under folder acronis to create bootable cd, it can either burn it or save it as iso.
what I did was, I save it as iso, then I insert my windows image into that iso, making it around 4.2GB, then I burn it.

so anytime I want to restore, I can just boot using the dvd and choose restore and choose the image on the dvd, then just wait for around 30 minutes since dvd is slower than hdd.

or if want to save dvd, can make your thumbdrive become bootable and put the iso & image in there and keep it as recovery thumbdrive laugh.gif

code::blocks is IDE, like visual studio.
if want to use notepad, after save it as .cpp
then use cmd to compile it, if using mingw, on cmd, browse to the cpp folder, type
g++ filename.cpp -o after_compiled.exe

of course more hassle than code::blocks or visual studio with just one click to compile~

when saving using notepad, enter the filename and extension with double quotes, like "filename.cpp"
or change the file type from text document to all files, then just type filename.cpp and save.

as how to use, explain already on the quote above~

use cd command
change directory one by one
so if want fast, make a folder "A" on C:\
so open cmd
type
cd \
cd a
then you can compile at there,
just put your .cpp file on that folder.

Added on November 24, 2009, 9:14 pmyou need to install mingw first.

installed mingw already? choose MinGW base tool, g++ compiler, and MinGW Make on installation.
then need to add 'c:\mingw\bin;' to the path environment with the quotes

then which one should i use ??
mingw ? code::blocks ? Virsual studio ? dev C++ ?? @.@

Added on November 24, 2009, 9:26 pmwindow 7 can use that xp mingw steps ??
*
dev c++, code::blocks, visual studio all function the same, just depends you like which interface.

mingw is the compiler, whichever you used, you also need it.

if you don't want sacrifice hdd space and willing to use notepad, then use cmd to compile.
else use one of those three above and can compile in just one click.
