its because you declared c=result at the beginning
after you calculated result c will not get the new number from result its still remain the old number from result unless you are making c as pointer to result, that's different story. remember that c++ is doing one line by one line. after you declare c=result at the begining, it will only do it once. no more assigning result as c even if the result change number.
