marauderz: understanding the new sensor. and the hype iso performance of the new sensor.

the A550 sensor is pretty well build, ignoring what-so-ever review there is out there, some are bias, some arent. but to the point, the sharpness and iso performance is also affected by lenses u use, (you will notice review hardly state what lenses they use when they do comparison) so, it's very difficult to justify the sharpness or iso or performance of the camera.

as for the first question on the iso, high iso works well with raw? answer is NOPE - not exactely. u see, especially the DP review, u notice the 500D raw - iso at 3200 are noisier then A550's raw. it proves that, the 500D has better (or heavier) noise reduction in the body when comparing jpeg, 500D seems finer then A550. but the good news is, A500 native (raw) sensor iso level are pretty LOW at iso3200 too (and to any other camera in the market now, except nikon, they going to use our sensor anyway later....) so, for 500D users, it's better for them to shoot jpeg rather then raw and the trouble to post process later.

and passing iso6400, 500D did pretty bad in their raw then A550. this proves A550 sensor are on par or better with (perhaps) canon's sensor.... so... for now, all sony's need is a good team of programmer to recode better coding for noise reduction.

so, shooting raw, infact , gives u space to process the noise, but the trouble to do it, (IMHO) is too troublesome. i rather just shoot jpeg, and learn to love the noise that affect the photo.

but then, i know one thing, when u buy the A550, buy it with the CZ1680!.... ur photo will goes into another level of clarity.

A300, warranty till june next year, with 1870 kit lens, +8gb card. 8/10 condition. how much can let go? PM me ur opinion, i dunwan to turn this thread to talk bout price war.

the A550 review on DpReview is kind of sad...

i am extremely sure the image detail quality will improve tremendously with CZ lenses...

currently the CZ & built in stabilization is Sony's advantage in the market.. i have used 2470Z with A350 and it blew away the canon 50D quality... also with my 2470Z + A900, it will kill 5DMKII any time of the day...

met a canon photog a few weeks back, even he was amazed with the A900 and CZ lenses... he is using 5DMKII.. he even thinking of jumping, but cant afford to let go all his investments in C junks...

last month, met a Nikon photog (old timer), he was damn impressed as well, and told me, many of his Canon photog buddies r jumping to Sony coz of the CZ..

hahahhahhaa, before using dSLR, i didnt even know about CZ's existence... so i didnt use Sony coz of CZ. as a matter of fact, i dont know why i chose Sony also

hi guys between SAL 16-105 and 16-80z which is better? looking for a good wide angle telephoto here, to replace the 18-70 on the A350 and also a good kit lens for my next target A550.

i see, the current price tag should be 2300-2500 i presume?

Next weekend i will get my Sony a550 and 11-18mm lens, but now using a200 should i need to sell my a200?

allow me to spam a few shots taken with my new lens =D
