thought also go to self-poison, so to get a sunpak and mod it so can be sony WL compatible.. can get one sunpak fully mod for RM300

Why an CPL is not encouraged for UWA lens ? 

The CPL effect only covers a 90 degree arc. Ultra-wide angle lenses can cover wider angles, so only part of the sky is polarized.

MechaHerc: I have personally experienced the CPL and ultra-wide angle lens problem.

The Sony customer care agent told me that this product is not on sale in Malaysia? This is too bad and I am telling them I am not cancelling my order... Eventually, their management will try to get this product in Malaysia for me....

how big is a typical RAW file from the a300?
cause i tried that recently and the file came out to be about 10MB, as compared to 4-5MB average for Fine JPG
the RAW don't seem so big after all

I am thinking of home studio setup but i am about in dilemma what should I choose .. ..

1. umbrella+stand to be paired with 2 flash units.
2. softbox+stand to be paired with 2 flash units.
3. umbrella+stand with proper studio lighting.
4. softbox+stand with proper studio lighting.

if there any different between studio light/flash to be paired with softbox/umbrella? what else do i need to setup a home studio except backdrop?

why is it so? a100 low iso is better than a200/300?

hkhk: Some lenses change focus distance when you change focal length - they are called vari-focal lenses. However I find the Sony 18-70mm F3.5-5.6 DT to maintain focus - in fact, if you zoomed to 70mm and focused, then turned to 18mm, the focus would just be much, much sharper.

yea..1 of my maintenance guy told me he used to zoom in to focus when he is aiming small subject..and zoom out..he told me its sharper that way..

but MechaHerc..since u r shooting group shot...the F shd be high right??in that way i dont feel it has much impact...just my wild guess tho..

When I was using the kitlens, and even now with CZ2470, most of the time I did just like that. Another method would be zoom 70mm->focus->lock focus->zoom to 18->snap. But not sure if lock focus can be set, but I know it can be in A900   

Focus lock happens when you're in AF-S or AF-A if you keep the shutter half-pressed while zooming out. You don't need to flip the AF/MF switch or tap the AF/MF button.

Hmmm, I can't find a picture of the full-black A550 also online... and I can't read Chinese so I can't navigate around Sony China's website.

Edit: I just spoke to the Alpha Product Manager of Malaysia - there is no full-black A550.

wingster, you sure it was a real Sony shop? LOL! Also, you sure it's an A550 and not an A500? Make sure it's 14 megapixels, does 7 FPS, and has a 640x480 3" LCD (it is very obviously different from the A350 screen resolution.) Also, go inside the menu and look for the firmware version - it should identify as an A550 version 1.
