How to Train Your Dragon (2010)

Wohoo Dreamworks. Way to go.

Best 3D Animation, hands down

Picture Quality: 9.5/10
Sound Quality: 9/10
Storyline 8.9/10

I seen them all, Bolt 3D, Christmas Carol 3D, Up 3D etc, but the 3D effect of this movie is SPECTACULAR.

Story works. Talents behind the voices works. The DEPTH preception for this movie is FANTASTIC.

Recommend you sit RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CINEMA for best effect.

Bring you girlfriends/boyfriends/friends/family, oh just bring everyone you know to watching this movie.

It's got drama/comedy/suspense/thrill all rolled into one.

No, because it's high time that kids watch a movie in which the good guys die and the bad guys win and depresses the hell out of everyone.  rolleyes.gif

so is it best 3D effects among all the animation you mentioned earlier? i'm thinking to go for 2d or 3d also..

how's the story? interesting from start till end?
*
Yes, best 3D effects amongst the animation I have seen so far.

Great storyline, not entirely a Happy Ever After ending, but a happy ending nevertheless.

Enjoy!

noob and unrelated question, can someone wearing glasses watch the 3d using those special 3d glasses ?
*
Yes, the 3D glasses can fit over existing glasses.

But, if you do have contacts, definitely MUCH more comfortable.

is it recommended if i watch non 3d one?
*
Yes, the storyline is strong enough for you to enjoy the movie in 2D.

You'll lose some of the graphically "WOW" factor (riding on the back of dragon scene comes to mind). Am pretty sure it would be enjoyable in 2D.

i am waiting to see how he performs in 'she's out of my league'... he looks very suited for that role.

on the topic- yeah- highly recommended movie. personally, i wish i had gone for a late nite show as the one i went for was on a sunday evening and the parents who brought their kids couldnt control them at all.. very distracting.

You HEAR that QuickFire! "HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!" in 3D!!!!! laugh.gif

lol I didn't know. But he didnt say it was highly recommended IN 3D also la... I'm pokai already, no money for 3D

Anyway I've heard John Powell's score and it's really quite good. The "friendship" or "Hiccup" theme sounds like it was lifted from Harmony's Theme from Kiss Kiss Bang Bang though.
*
Too bad. It's really good. As YH90 said, the 3D "Depth" effect is way better then Avatar (Please don't crucify me).

The story is really "immersive" and the 3D effect only adds to it.

Yes, I agree the main dragon looks like a pokemon, and it is NOT a bad thing. laugh.gif

Yeah I wasnt very impressed with the depth perception in Avatar. See first lah, I might not een watch this in 2D. wait, let me go check rottentomatoes.

lol still at 100%.
*
Probably not find anything in RottenTomatoes, seeing how this will only start showing this Thursday in the States as well. I think they rushed the How To Train Your Dragon 3D in Malaysia to coincide with the school holidays.

lol pokai already lah. I'm building a new computer because my old got struck by lightning the other day. The lightning actually CAME into my house from the window. You could actually SEE the thing in front of you. At first I thought I wanted to ride the lightning, but I eventually decided against it.
*
Repeat after me

"Your Name is QuickFire. NOT Percy Jackson, The Lightning Thief. I'm REALLY, while Percy Jackson is a fictitious character."

"Your Name is QuickFire. NOT Percy Jackson, The Lightning Thief. I'm REALLY, while Percy Jackson is a fictitious character."

"Your Name is QuickFire. NOT Percy Jackson, The Lightning Thief. I'm REALLY, while Percy Jackson is a fictitious character."

Say that EVERYTIME you want to ride a lightning, it should keep you "GROUNDED"!! tongue.gif

Sorry to hear about your PC....

It is REALLY interesting.

If Pixar did not TAKE OVER Disney, and John Lasseter had not gotten the Creative Director role. We Might not have How To Train Your Dragon movie.

Dean DeBlois and Chris Sanders the genius behind Lilo and Stitch, was suppose to direct and write Bolt. They wanted to do a full flange "super dog" movie but John Lasseter said no, and that a pretend "super dog" movie would be more effective.

Dean DeBlois and Chris Sanders have since left Disney and apparently joined Dreamworks animations!

Would Bolt have been a better movie if they had gotten their way? No one can answer that, but How To Train Your Dragon is a boon for 3D animation that's for sure!
