Just came back from HK and bought some Home Theater magazines there. Read that HK are now popular with DLNA Ethernet AV receiver thread, seem like every AV receiver has Ethernet port in it. It can do online radio, online mp3 streaming and able to connecting to computer network and grap songs.
Wonder if Malaysia has DLNA Ethernet av receiver available yet?

Denon newer models have it, Onkyo's NR3007 and 5007 as well.

QUOTE(hsiengloong @ Nov 19 2009, 07:34 PM) Bro Anfield, Quick question, worth to upgrade 876 to 5007? If u want the Audyssey DSX and need the networking. Else I think the changes are pretty minimal, except that the 5007 is more powerful with torroidal transformers.

Pioneer SC-LX82 also has. but I guess that must be at least over RM4.5k kind of amp. I heard that will also be HDMI v1.4 coming out for av receiver. Can use HDMI cable to do networking and online. That make me feel like i'm missing something in my HT setup... This post has been edited by sfseng: Nov 19 2009, 11:46 PM

These few days I have pondering about this issue as well. And since I am also doing a house renovation, I have decided that a wired network should be incorporated now to cater for future upgrade.
So I have decided to set up a built-in network wire to the future hifi rack area.
And after considering the pros & cons, from media player, to ps3 to network Amp, I think perhaps the answer should be to set up a HTPC connecting to an Amp which has no such facilities.
This amp need no upgrading. They just need to be able to take in sound from the htpc, preferably a direct digital input from the CPU.
The software of the CPU will be able to upgrade from time to time to cater for all type of movie files too. Don't have to worry about media player compatibility.
With proper soundcard, I think the quality of the audio should be equally good. And don't forget to just use the proper CD player should there be any need to listen to high end audio source.
I think a decent htpc cost only about rm2k or less?
