QUOTE(anythin @ Jun 6 2007, 01:42 PM) So i should haggle about the price more...thanx.. Watch out for the Toshiba, Phillips and LG (I think) screens, especially the not-so-current models. That is, if you're using the VGA input as a means to connect your x360.BTW,just asking 4 ur personal opinion which one is better(all around 3.2k n below i think) 1.Sharp Aquos LC32BX5M 2.Toshiba Regza 32WL66E 3.VIERA TX-32LX60M 4.VIERA TX-32LE7M 5.Samsung 32 R7 series 6.Samsung 32 S8 series 7.Sony 32 S series 8.LG 32LC4R Some of these screens only accept a max of 1280x1024 via VGA, some even less. So understandably, sending a 1360x900 or whatever widescreen format signal into the tv wouldn't result in the optimal result. The x360 will try to compensate by using an expanded mode, but somehow it just won't fit properly, and the edges will get chopped off. The tvs will happily accept 720p or 1080i via component or HDMI (if you got Elite) but I think VGA > component. Best to get a tv that will accept 1360x900 via VGA from the start and not have to worry. The R7s and R8s and Sonys and Sharps can do it, but not sure about the VIERAs. While the Dashboard will only accept 1024x768, for gaming I've not seen any overscanning/chopped off edges in 720p or 1080i. |

The Regza loses 1 to 2 inches on the left of the screen, with the 360 running at 1360x768 (or whatever it is) expanded via VGA in Dashboard and in game.I double-checked with the 360 running 720p and 1080i via component, and there was no overscan in either dashboard or game. I was very attracted to the Regza and Phillips 37" teles because the PQ was clearly superior, but you know, for me, I'd just prefer to have the TV take in what I want via VGA cleanly. Looking at the Samsungs again now. |

Err... anyone here going for the MBF Cards deal? Samsung S8 37" @ RM 4300.
I'm so pissed with my R7 that i'm thinking of placing it in the living room and replace it with the Samsung S8. |

Looking at the Samsungs again now. You're the first person so far to have positive input on the Philips sets, LOL. But to the point, you're right - overscanning sucks. However I've not detected any in mine - but you're definitely wise checking every single avenue until YOU are satisfied. Good luck! |
