Mayb maintanance ? i call to digi customer survice check , they say every thing is ok , my line is smoth , which mean that current speed is like that .
which mean the smoth for them is slow till can't buffer youtube , online game.

as me know online game no need high bandwith , actually can play with a dail up(56k modem) without lagging.

I have been experiencing slow internet for the past 2 nights, both thru DiGi BB as well as DiGi Turbo 3G. (I do notice certain websites were more affected than others).

(I'm in George Town, btw)

At my wits' end, I remembered DiGi having a similar problem a couple of years ago when everyone couldn't get to specific sites like BBC. So I tried the solution I found last time and used the OpenDNS.com DNS addresses:
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
Looks like the same temporary solution from last time still works. sweat.gif

Still, I need to yell at someone at 016-2993333 tomorrow. mad.gif

even not now , will going to have same problem later .. coz is same company ..

at morning the speed is accapable , once going to 5pm+ they speed drop down.

which mean that thye din increase the capacity ....

the number of ppl using increase but the capacity still remain ..

exp a line can use for 100 ppl , but the keep get new customer till 1000 or more ... how to share ? so they speed is ok while less ppl open. same as other.

I have to give credit where credit's due; yesterday's speed was good compared to the 2 previous nights.

Suspect the DiGi network sometimes uses dodgy DNS servers, and during that time the network slows to a crawl.

I agree. Yesterday the speed is very good. This morning as well. The connectivity so far today is very good with no complaints. For DNS, what we can do is to put the secondary DNS as a different DNS like the OpenDNS. I think it helps to a certain extend for name resolving issues.

Yes yesterday seems to improve too. I emailed CS the url of this thread and maybe they saw many people complaining hehe. Or maybe there was no heavy rain yesterday, unlike the past week which has been raining almost every day.

Too lazy to do my own screenshots, so here's a link (for Vista):
http://www.plus.net/support/domains_and_dns/dns/changing_dns_vista.shtml

There are two fields for DNS servers: Preferred and Alternate.

As for the actual DNS IP addresses, I've posted somewhere here in the DiGi Broadband section before tongue.gif

@abelj87
may i ask that u check ur digi ocs and see how much bandwidth you have consume for this month's bill cycle.

Why i ask this is becuz. Digi since end of last year has been very strict on its FUP after u used up ur monthly quota. Because, if u havent used up ur quota than Digi is blazing fast. For me(Petaling Jaya), its that case but after i used up my 10GB quota(sum of total download and upload) than Digi from 1Mbps to a turtle 128Kbps for the rest of the bill cycle.

For me, Digi is my best pick(when i havent finish my quota). At least, I dont scream as much as i do when using screwmax.

the first month of using digi broadband, it was really fast, youtube can load without pausing, but i dunno whether because users increased, or because after i downloaded the update, from that on, it became slow, so, i would suggest, dont download the firmware update, coz i guess that contributes to the factor that digi broadband is more slow now..

Well, good thing with Digi is that they have ups and downs. Whereas other telcos....its basically down, down, down, down, down....

You are obviously on EDGE. Lock your modem to WCDMA.

On the connection manager, go to Tools > Options > Network and select network type "WCDMA Only".

I know this is old news, but just still is great news for the month:
QUOTE
Celcom and DiGi Sign MoU for Advanced Network Collaboration

KUALA LUMPUR, 10 JUNE 2010: Celcom Axiata Berhad [formerly known as Celcom (Malaysia) Berhad] (“Celcom”) and DiGi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd (“DiGi”) today announced plans to explore long-term network and infrastructure collaboration in Malaysia.

The Memorandum of Understanding (“MoU”) signed between Celcom, DiGi, and their respective major shareholders Axiata Group Berhad (“Axiata”) and Telenor Asia Pte Ltd (“Telenor”) will focus on three collaborative areas, namely operations and maintenance, transmission and site sharing, and radio access network.

The proposed active sharing model is geared towards generating significant operational and cost efficiencies for both operators by removing duplication of base station sites, addressing escalating rental fees, reducing utility bills and transmission costs, optimising deployment of base stations per area, and redeploying equipment between redundant and new sites.

The MoU is among the first such collaboration in the world with a wide and comprehensive scope. This is the first time two major network operators in Malaysia are considering extensive collaboration of network resources. A definitive agreement is expected to be reached before the end of 2010 once both parties have agreed on the long-term economic and operational viability of this collaboration.

This agreement also closely reflects an earlier accord for the sharing of network resources in Bangladesh between Axiata and Telenor Asia, through their respective operating companies Axiata (Bangladesh) Limited and Grameenphone Ltd. It signals the commitment of Axiata Group and Telenor Group to explore initiatives regarding network resources collaboration in Asia that could bring long-term significance in cost savings and environmental benefits.

The MoU was signed in the presence of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission Chairman Tan Sri Khalid Ramli. Signing on behalf of their respective companies were Dato’ Sri Shazalli Ramly, CEO of Celcom; Henrik Clausen, CEO of DiGi; Dato’ Sri Jamaludin Ibrahim, Managing Director/President and Group CEO of Axiata; and Sigve Brekke, Executive Vice President of Telenor Group and Head of Telenor Region Asia.

On the MoU, Mr. Clausen explained, “Maturing mobile markets like Malaysia can benefit from extensive network sharing as a key strategy to drive cost and operational efficiency. These efficiencies will in turn allow us to explore new and innovative ways to provide wider coverage at better costs for our customers, especially in facilitating the strong demand for data services nationwide. This is the main driver behind this collaboration, and we see clear advantages in moving forward together on a long-term, sustainable business model.”

“With higher internet penetration, networks are becoming more data-centric than voice-centric, driving an increased capacity requirement in all points of the network infrastructure. In the long run, it is more practical to explore other alternatives to address this shift in trend. This collaboration is a new milestone not only for Celcom and DiGi, it is also a brand new chapter for the local industry and the country, positioning Malaysia as a pioneer in network infrastructure sharing. Ultimately, we look forward to improved quality of service and increased shareholder value, benefiting both the consumers and service providers” said Dato’ Sri Shazalli.

source

To sums it up, pretty much improving on the coverage for both parties. Hopefully, their customer service remains separate. happy.gif

How's your data quota, did you go over it?

Maybe my area's not congested. I'm on Digi prepaid internet (max 384kbps) and usually I get max speed on 90% of the websites. Much satisfying web browsing experience than streamyx.

am now in an area that does not has Digi 3g nor Edge only has GPRS.
the problem is although am able to connect and surf at low speed but after few minute (or 10minutes) or so problem start - the browser can't open webpage
need to switch off/switch on the modem and than after a while the same problem happen again.

i don't mind GPRS slow speed but if it can't open webpage at all than it is too bad.

when you call any careline. just tell them you know their ceo. and ask them, you want to talk with their leader/supervisor.

digi - no outsource ( what i know till now)
celcom/maxis/streamyx/hsbb - using outsource worker

dont let them rude with you.
just call it their careline.

at 1st call if they rude with you just call careline number again-and again. your number will up in their screen monitor.
and if they no pickup.. the supervisor will ask them... why nobody pickup. all number which called to careline center has been log into their system.
not only for their IT department referance. this also for marketing & hr referance to see their cs worker doing job or not.

just my 2 cents sweat.gif

Malaysian always forget consumer rights =P Since we pay for the service, just call them and complain.

Normally we just complain to friends or forums, which doesn't really help either. Most doesn't even dare to call.

The costumer service are there for reasons. =)

But, I do think that although we called, it won't really help either. Everyone is having the same problem, with so many ISP in Malaysia, all of them are the same. Disappointed. Can't anyone do things RIGHT?

"Broadband done right!" That is what Digi said.

Guys need to ask some feedback on DIGI. I am in the midst of making a decision on whether to go for DIGI/P1 Wimax.

DIGI Explore RM158 - avg 700kb d/l 200kb upload. CAP @ 16GB
P1 Wimax 2.4mbps RM139 - not stated. CAP @ 30GB

Base on this 2, obviously P1 is the better choice but i would like to ask if there is anyone experienced who had switch from P1 to DIGI?

my area? Klang - Setia Alam. Use mostly for online gaming & working from home (vnc back office)

I also thought of using DIGI for online gaming and so on. But the speed is really bad and the PROMOTED consistency is really bad... I tried to play Starcraft II even with the server at Singapore, it is so lag that I can barely play.

About the 1MB speed or 700kb average speed. I just get that maybe 50% of the time. Other than that, I just get something really bad.

I am wondering, are they trying to scam me by setting me to OVER QUOTA?

I paid RM158 monthly with 16GB quota and hopefully to have at least average 700kbps speed. But what I have is just frequent disconnections and speed up to 128kbps.

What is going on here.... Called also useless, they said everything is FINE. Please... RM158 is not that cheap. I have to get two ISP and use whichever has better speed for me. RM158+RM110 a month is nothing fun to be paid. I kept being laughed by friends for paying RM158 for this lousy speed. Embarrassing.

Check out what I have the past two weeks.

Then I called DIGI Customer Service to complain about my speed. After checking that my usage just 5GB/16GB they advised me to set my setting to EDGE instead at this moment due to HIGH 3G TRAFFIC.

Well, does that means that I have to pay RM158 to use EDGE speed whenever the 3G Traffic is HIGH? Seriously, this even worst than being capped at 128kbps. My edge speed surfs at about 30kbps... Are you guys REAL when you guys complimenting Digi speed and consistency?

This is my EDGE speed after being advised by DIGI Customer Service to change to EDGE setting instead. Seriously how am I going to introduce DIGI to my friends?

In my opinion if they asked you to go into EDGE mode because the 3G is experiencing high data traffic, it means they are admitting that the network capacity in your area is insufficient and they should upgrade it. This kind of customer service response invites some serious scolding. biggrin.gif

Anyway wireless performance depends a lot on location. Your area may have a lot of users and congestion happens. My area in Taman Midah experiences that too. Although my speedtest shows 0.5-0.6Mbps during the evening, I don't get the equivalent in my actual browsing or downloading. Something is wrong with those speedtest results, at least for me.

For your issue, maybe you try re-orientate the modem's location. See if it improve signals. I have done similar exercises in my home and I get more consistent speeds now although its still slow.

please note that, those 50kbps are normal.
128kbps are the maximum speed of throttling of unlimited bandwidth after meeting the quota.

it can also be 10kbps, 20kbps, 30kbps..
..but saying 128kbps sound better to get the customer to signup.

It is in every place, even kelana jaya facing that. And there is one best thing, They have a sh!tty DNS server, wtf, always did not response to the query, when you are connected you able to ping an IP, but not a domain, =.=. It make browsing to damn difficult, need to keep refresh just to load up some page, zzzzz.

Unreliable speed in Kepong Baru area.

You won't get transfer speed more than 80kb/s. Average speed fluctuates between 10kb/s to 70kb/s. Far cry from their advertised speed of average 700 kb/s.

Coverage in most Kepong area is below par.

Called up their Cust Care and they promised to file a report to check their coverage again. More than three days (since my new Digi Broadband registration), still the same turtle speed. No follow up.

Bad service!

after your Quota limit reached, throttled speed really sucks. Max i can get is 15kbps while Digi quote 128kbps throttled speed. Also frequent disconnection but i've found the workaround using different dialer software "MWconn" and set it to frequently ping something.

I've been trying to get some comments regarding the new BB modems Digi is issueing to customer. Apparently quite a couple had problems installing this MF100 ZTE modem onto their pc in various platform*including XP,Vista and 7.

Apparently on the digiBB thread, noone pointed it out. Seems like most new users are pretty happy with the ZTE modem.

I would like to point out that, according to what i see.. The dongle hardware has no fault or problem whatever so. But the biggest problem abt the dongle is the preinstalled digi's BB launcher. It could nv install properly. Worst of all, the launcher doesnt seems to detect the drivers properly.

Maybe it's minority i guess but seems to me, there are already 3 users experiencing this problem. I've personally tested by installing it on 4 pc*xp and win7* and none of them worked and all four got stucked at a percentage where installing can no longer proceed.

Looks like the same temporary solution from last time still works. sweat.gif

Still, I need to yell at someone at 016-2993333 tomorrow.  mad.gif

What are the charges? When I switch from my non contractual Blackberry to Internet RM68 12 months to get the Huawei Android Mifi Phone U8150, I was not informed of any charges. Actually, I was not even issued a new sim card, used back the same BB sim card and according to the CS, same account also and I did not sign any payment form for the Internet RM68.

If you downgrade on the same SIM, no additional charges incurred. Make sure you go to DiGi Centres not their dealers.

Their dealers would advise you otherwise since they want the additional incentive on the line..

I have the same problem with my fix BB but when I stopped the Azureus file sharing software, speeds went back to normal.

I think the limitation is on the PC, the way the protocol stack handles multiple TCP/IP sessions and connections.

I have no problem with download speed. My problem is with DG DNS under 3G network. Sometime slow response, wait so loong then host not found. Switch to GPRS no DNS problem but super sloow.

Tested YES can be use in my place. Bye bye Digi, tomorrow will call them up, f**k them gao gao, then discontinue their service. WTF, at begining w almost full bar of HSPDA to very limited signal and most of the time EDGE, now edge want to connect also need to see luck? clicking the redial button more then 10-20 mins, then 5 mins later DC me again, F**K U Digi, "Internet Done Worst" then say lar, want to cheat ppl "Internet Done Right", from my package 3G data, you upgrade it to 4G data, but it is almost 15th of the month where the cut off time is reaching, I only able to surf 1G plus a bit with the f**k up connection.

If slow or edge only I still can accept, but edge also cant connect and I have to pull out my Maxis Sim card to use on the modem? Digi, why the hell you still in the broadband market? You are more worst then Streamnux or any others ISP.
