Hey Guys/Gals,

I have been following this thread for a while now as I am planing to buy a BB soon , hopefully the BB 9700 (AP Set) smile.gif .

Anyways I am currently a Maxis Hotlink Prepaid customer, and from what I have seen DG Smart Plan seems to be the best plan for me.

So here are my questions:

1) From Digi website, it looks like its hassle free to change from Maxis to Digi line? Should I be aware of any possible problems during the switch? Or any advice to make sure the transition goes smooth as possible?

2) Looks like the DG Smart Plan is a post paid plan? Is there any surprise fees "other" the RM58 month if I were to use it according to the limit allowed?

3) Since I will be buying an AP BB set, any tips to make sure that the BB is new other than Options> Status > BUYR? Can I do this without inserting my SIM Card? (BB newbie here smile.gif )

Once again thanks in advance for your advice. Can't wait to get my hands on a BB drool.gif

hey guys,

Finally change my number from hotlink prepaid to digi. I am currently have subscribe to the Digi Smart Plan. Although I am able to make phone calls and sms using Digi network, I am still not able to use Facebook, etc because my BIS is not activated. Called the customer service and and he confirmed that it will take at least 24 hours for it to BIS to be activated. Is that true?

Furthermore is there any indication that my BIS has been successfully activated? And do i need to provide my Pin and IMEI to digi so that I can register at digi.my.blackberry.net to activate my BIS?

Sorry for the newbie questions.

Hi Cheewooi

I think you will have to wait for a while more until u see the edge changes to all caps EDGE, according to what I have read over here.

However I am still having the same problem like you, can't access email or facebook etc,.

Hopefully one of us can resolve this problem soon an post up the settings.... rclxub.gif

All right guys, I manage to resolve my blackberry issue. Hopefully this tips might help you..

I headed to Taipan Digi Store and met with one of the nicest and most patient staff there. Can't remember his name but i think it's Azarin.

This is what he did:

1) First thing you need to check is to make sure that you have all of the services in your service book. Go to options > Advance Options > Service Book.
Here you will see a lot of services like ICQ - BBIM, Blackberry Maps, etc

2) If there is none, the digi staff will try to force the service books settings to your phone.

3) Pull out the battery and sim card. Put it back after 2-3 minutes.

Give it a try now.

However for mine, I still had problems so he called the Blackberry guys to check, but still could not solve the problem..so i went home frustrated.

6) Now here is the weird part, for my APN settings (previously blackberry.net), I reset to default to make it blank ,save it, then turn off the bb and uplug the battery and sim card.

7) I then put in a my Wife SIM card (NON BB) into the BB, surf the web for a couple of seconds, turn off the phone, took out the batter and swap it with my own sim card.

1) I then turn on the BB. You will receive a message saying that your device is registed with BB....and guess what....able to connect to Facebook, Maps, etc.

It's really weird.

When I change the APN settings and entered blackberry.net... it did not work again.

Hopes this helps.

Yesterday, the helpline told me they unable to check when the BIS will be activated. Normally in 24 hour. They even warn me not to use my blackberry as tethered modem LOL...

After the activation, they ask me bring my phone to their dealer shop to setup the phone....that's weird...I wonder why not they just post it on the website how to configure blackberry devices...

Hi Thumbelina,

I understand your frustration, as I too had some problems activating my BIS smile.gif. Hopefully this tips can help you out. Which model of BB are u using?

1) Do you see the connection as "EDGE" or "3G" ? Basically it should be all capital letters. This indicate that your BIS is activated.

2) However if you are still having problem connecting to the Internet or Facebook, etc. Try the following:

a) Check your service book (Options > Advance Options > Service Book). There should be a long list of items there. If it's not there, call customer service and Ask them to try resend you the service book to your BB.

b) For the APN setting reset it to default first. THis will blank out any settings. Remember to save the settings.

c) Turn off your BB, Pull out the battery and the Sim Card (I know it sounds weird, but it works for me smile.gif )

3) Once you see that your Service Book does have a long list of items, then most like you will be able to connect online. Give it a try. If it works, then you can go ahead and set your APN = digistrm so that you can watch YouTube without for free smile.gif

I remember I was having problem connecting when my APN was set to blackberry.net, however it work for some people. I am currently using Bold 9700.

Good Luck.

planning to go for digi, since it is the cheapest...so far..
but contemplating between 8900 jave and 9630 tour...one with wifi only, and the other 1 with 3g only..
which 1 shud i go for if going for digi? My concern with no 3g is the browsing might be slow...? or is it Digi offer does not have 3g?  hmm.gif  icon_question.gif
sorry...i'm on Maxis Iphone with has everything...almost... hmm.gif

I am currently on Digi BIS using a bold 9700. I have tested surfing online with 3G and EDGE, and there is only a very slight difference in speed and in most cases, the speed difference is hardly noticeable at all.

Unless you plan on using your phone for Tethering then should should get the one with 3G connection. However take note that DIGI BIS does NOT cover tethering and you will be charge.

Actually this is a good question. I am wondering the same as well. Maybe someone with the same experience could answer...but this is what i think..

Since the BBM messaging exist only because of BIS, I am not sure if there is charges for "roaming BIS" or if there is, how much it would be...

QUOTE(cheezzzz @ Feb 1 2010, 11:21 AM)
sorry for question-bombing.. but, BBM messaging to overseas is free right? theres no such thing as local/overseas when it comes to the usage of it right ._.

I think you will need to be the primary line. However I am sure that only 1 IC can apply for the DIG bis.

QUOTE(powerfulcool @ Feb 7 2010, 12:02 PM)
im under the family plan as a supplementary line. my dad's on the DG50 and im on DG30. if i want to use the DG Smart Plan for BB, do i need to be the primary line?

or can i stick as being the supplementary line and have my dad remain as the primary line? so that our monthly bill is RM50 + RM58 (plus my voice calls)

Weird that it will take 4 working days.

Just a tip, To see if your BIS is activated, go to Manage COnnection > Service Status. Undert Blackberry Internet service u should see " Mobile Network"

Why doesn't the user posted image  icon appear ?

The icon only appears if you are connected using 3G...if EDGE then the icon will not appear.

i think this is getting worse! not only my BIS network goes missing, but the network turns SOS at random times for few minutes.

Even with a normal network without BIS logo sometimes (but with full bars of digi coverage) i cant receive calls or make a call. anyone else experiencing this?

Yes, I'm getting it quite often as well. This normally happens in Cyberjaya area though...where are you guys located?
