Normally these are the symptoms that ylod is gonna hit ur console already.

My fat ps3 80G become YLOD today. Try removing the old thermal paste & apply new one, still become YLOD after 1/2 hour turn on.

Looks like more and more people are getting YLOD. Which ps3 model u guys have? My 40GB Phat ylod abt 2 months ago. Sent it to a local gameshop nearby. Today they sms me said it can't be fixed even after a few tries. I don't mind buying a slim but. So sad, all those saved data gone just like that. U think there's a chance mayb u can fix it? Mayb when i go to KL, can bring my ps3 to ur place.

hi.. read a few post in here, some got same symptom as me.. play a game, after 1/2 hour, auto turned with 3 bleeps... and it becoming worse, shorter play time + got brief yellow light before bleeping.. if play game like MW3, it shut off even faster... so i guess its going to ylod real soon...

can you fix this? i suspect the fan is becoming weaker, and reflow will definitely helps... pls pm me.. thx

This is my honest review of this guy's work. My PS3 has YLOD symptom but it could still be turned on. Sent my unit to him in leisure Mall. Got it fixed very quickly in less than 2 days. Went home after collecting my unit and in less than 15 minutes it went kaput. But no YLOD. Restarted and same thing happened in less than an hour 's play.

Called him up and he explained might need to do rewiring on the GPU. I was thinking what the hell? Rewiring? I did not question his technical expertise but does he know what to mess with the so called GPU or is he just pulling my leg I'm not sure. But I did return the unit which he promised to fix. Got my unit back after a few days and it started fine. Only downside is the rather noisy exhaust fan. It still shut down after not more than 2 hours continuous gameplay. What's more serious is that he might screwed up my GPU or something as it couldn't display thru HDMI no matter how. Thus from simple YLOD problem it became dead from this fail to display problem. I'm not sure what he did the second time but I think he screwed my PS3 up. I have no choice but to buy a new slim unit.

My simple advice, buy new unit or official Malaysia set so u can have sony Malaysia fix it instead of unqualified technicians who claimed to be able to rewire the PS3's GPU...Hands up....

Hi bro, really sorry bout ur case.
Sometimes the ylod problem might come back pretty quick if playing new graphically intense games such as cod:mw3, BF3 or etc.
But I don't think i said anything about rewiring, might be miscommunication. There are no wires involved in the GPU being soldered to the motherboard, I could be saying reflow or retry.
Regarding the HDMI display, could it be you need to reset the video settings? Because I test every set with HDMI output before returning, and I would be honest to tell if there is no video output.

Anyway, the best permanent solution is still like you suggest to buy a new set and backup everything from the old set to the new set. That, I would agree is the best solution.

But regarding official Malaysia set, if it's under warranty then they will fix it for you. But if it's out of warranty, I think they will charge around RM700 to fix the ylod problem which is almost equivalent to buying a new set by adding a little more money.

hi...my phat 40gn ps3 got ylod'ed before and i send to another shop to repair it...after 3 months the problem happen again but this time the ps3 will auto shutdown after 15 mins because of the heat...think u can fix it?
