Dedicated server support is now cracked. No more lame matchmaking.
IW & Activision = TOLD

You NEED an ori copy to use the MP mod, so there's no piracy.
But will Steam VAC this? Only time will tell.

Knowing IW, they'd probably VAC this OUT. So, the "use at your own risk" warning shouldn't be taken lightly.

Too be honest, matchmaking with IWNet was not that bad. Although, having dedi server is not a bad idea

well....i think IW will probably ban those who use it,
but..at least dedicated server can make playing across regions easier and less lag.

the matchmaking isn't too lag, but the problem is when finding the right game.

That is my biggest fear, the question now is since IW released an update for "better" match making purposes, is there any improvement?

I kinda hate to break it to you, but even though it's a large leap forward, it's not exactly a ded server - someone still hosts, someone still joins.

The MP version they're reportedly working on seems like it'd be similar - it's not a dedicated server, it's just a wrapper/inject that allows someone to use the existing code to host a game and people to directly connect to that IP, bypassing matchmaking.

Every single crack release by the sceners are a power-packed blow to Activision. It will only be time when they will be brought to their knees and forced to patch the damn game.

Will they? I wish I can agree with you but knowing what Bobby d*** is capable, he could just decide to release the next COD sequel on consoles only as the PC community is just giving them such a hard time.

so install the game into a proper server. and make it host the games all the time. and you get a dedicated server with no controls, yet. biggrin.gif

Except the 'server' takes up one of 12 slots. sad.gif

Although slightly off-topic, the console inject is also just as amazing - it seems like a shit ton of server side settings are non-protected, btw. People can easily set each kill to give +100000, and it's all recorded on iw.net. The best part is, you can't ban the people who hit max level 70 in one game, because it's not their fault. They didn't even explicitly choose to join a haxored game - matchmaking threw them in.

Wonder how IW's going to clean up the mess, or if they'll continue digging themselves deeper and end up at China.

no wander so much people reach 70 so fast, the second day already..70, just saw a demo of the hacking tools in COD:MW2, like beam tracking and aiming bots....so...no HACK PROTECTION..

if they really go console only, then they lose the biggest market for FPS.
Mouse and Keyboard Combo is always the way to play FPS.... tongue.gif

Less than 24 hours ago a "hack"/"crack" was released for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 which enables the playing of the Singleplayer mode, Co Op mode and the Multiplayer mode entirely hassle free.

This now means that legitimate game buyers are playing with people that have illegally downloaded the game for free. VAC (Valve Anti-Cheat) is expected to do very little to counter this, an individual simply needs to create a new fake account and run steam in the background while playing the Multiplayer mode.

It is likely that Infinity Ward will attempt to patch this up by requiring IWNet to only authorise connections to the latest patched version of the game executable but it will only, most likely, take hackers hours to release a counter patch in order to enable the resuming of gaming using "hacks"/"cracks".

I think it's safe to say that Infinity Ward would probably be having an easier time right now if they kept in Dedicated Servers and Punkbuster

so....IW is in big trouble...
