I was really surprised to see a failbrand in Malaysia. FYI, they pay their employees in Australia below minimum wage. That's how cost cutting they are. The fabric - low quality.
As a student on a low low budget I'd frequent their shop, but I can't justify paying those prices converted to MYR for them. The only thing I actually liked were their monotone polos and hoodies. But they don't sell hoodies in MY due to the weather. Oh yeah, and their sizing. Whenever a student club would print their t-shirts, if they were cottonon we'd get them 1-2 sizes bigger for guys, because their sizing was for both men and women. I think I have an XXL which is equivalent to a standard guy's L. This post has been edited by spacelion: Apr 15 2010, 01:25 PM |

The fabric - low quality. I gotta agree with this person regarding the employment matter. My girlfriend used to work for them. my girlfriend told me they treat their employees like crap. not only that, when payment time, they always make excuses say no money and stuff but still got money to expand and hire new staff. As a student on a low low budget I'd frequent their shop, but I can't justify paying those prices converted to MYR for them. i found that some of their clothes are nice quality and nice cutting,
but last time i bought a shirt at rm25 but the cutting looks really weird and the quality is quite bad. but i dont like their shop in 1U, very hard to shop there coz the shop is not really big but they have a lot of shelves there.. |

This brand is okay, but still inferior in terms of quality to other brands like Topman/Topshop.

I think u guys should boycott their brand. Don't think Malaysian only consider cheap price and quality second. How about working ethnic? Their company is listed in retail fashion industry as number one for not paying their staff salary, EPF and SOCSO...Sucks ha?
The best thing..they are racist!!!They don't hire Malay! |

Cotton On has got to be one of the worst places I have ever worked at. They don't pay on time and when they eventually decide to pay you, they pay you half of what you worked for.
I had to keep calling/texting the manager for my pay and he kept feeding me the same excuses and lies (miscalculated my work hours, the bank account number I gave them was missing a digit etc.). Cotton On paid me A MONTH after my salary was due and even then they paid me less than half of what I was supposed to get. I had to keep calling them for the next 3 weeks only to discover that they deposited a miserable RM 50 into my account (oh hey, where's the rest of my pay?). The manager said he would start up an EPF account for me but he didn't and he still owes me the rest of my salary. It's been 3 months already. Don't be fooled by the whole "we are the highest paying employers in Malaysia" spiel. Also, their tagline "come play with us" is complete BS. They pressure you to push items like scarves etc. and if you don't sell enough of them in a day, they threaten to cut down your hours. In the first month I worked there, 10 people quit because they were not being paid accordingly. This is why they have to keep hiring. I can understand why a lot of people would buy from them. They're cheap, they keep updated on trends... But from my own personal experience, they shortchange people. When they feel like it, they'll price a pair of shorts for RM 59, the next week, it'll be priced at RM 25. I have witnessed discount rack items go from RM 15 per piece to RM 39 in a day. The system is messy and different outlets sell their pieces at different prices so don't expect the prices to be the same everywhere. Just my 2, VERY LONG, cents. Haha. |

I bet u r working in Pav.U still work there?U know what...I've too run up and down KWSP cos they keep on cutting my salary for EPF but didn't bank in at all!I advise u to do so...At least 10 or more staff has lodged an report against them and u better do so if not this company will go bankrupt due to all problems they are having right now.Best is,they ran away without paying u the EPF! Anyway,i think u r quite lucky cos they still bank in money into ur account. One of my friends get a pay cut ( Suddenly without warning ) RM350 and another part timer don't even get her full month ( October ) salary after get transfer to another store. Can u just believe how stupid is all this people are? |

lol its funny how malaysian consumers are ignoring the comments above. typical. rather go for cheap and plenty, don't care about the people involved. no such thing as labour laws or whatever here
