Hello all, i have question regarding how to setup my wireless connection. I am currently subscribing streamyx and using TP-Link TD-W8901G to connect to the net. But i cant connect to the net by wireless, need to use the Lan cabel. I've restarted the router a few times but still not able to connect to the net.. How to solve this problem? thanks..

Solution [thanks to tvcat] ;

Reset router to factory setting,
log in router >> interface setup >> internet
VPI = 0
VCI = 35
ISP = PPP0A/PPPoE
username = username@streamyx
password = streamyxpassword
encapsulation = PPPoE LLC
bridge interface = deactivated
connection = always on
get ip address = dynamic

are you using windows dial up to log in to the streamyx??
if yes then delete the windows dial up and set the streamyx account info in the router.

Previously i've restarted and reset the router for few times to ensure its reset to factory default, but still same error message appear..

try select the other pvc for the "virtual circuit" like pvc1
is the value of the vpi and vci change when you select a different value for "virtual circuit"?
if yes then try to change the "virtual circuit" value until the vpi = 0 and vci = 35
then try to save.

Guys,

I've discovered sth extraordinary with this particular router. I have the streamyx combo RM60 (384kbps line), normal download speed is around 40~45kbps, from Rapidshare, Hotfiles, or other torrent download. But with this router (for about 2 weeks), my download speed has shot up to 150~200kbps. I've not upgraded my line, nor any changes in the hardware, the only thing new is the router. I try to use my old Aztech modem, speed is ~40kbps. A d-Link router also gives me ~40. I restart my PC many times, and switch with other router, it is ~40 40kbps.

The magic happens when TP Link TD-W8901G is plugged in, I get 150-200kbps. My bad, I reset the router to factory settings 2 days ago, then everything is back to normal.

Do you have any clues?

Ohh, what a waste you should have shared the settings here!

//Back on topic, were the router have any relation to the speed? I don't know much about this.. But if it does, thats good! maybe i can accelerate my connection speed. But as far as i used this router i think the speed have not much different from the prev one. so i assume that it have no different just that it has wifi.

Uh... yeah, you can disable wireless LAN.

I was wrestling with the modem/router just now as I couldn't get it to connect to streamyx (didn't know VPI and VCI). So I just used it as a modem and connected it to my old wireless router to connect to streamyx. At that time I had the wireless LAN off for the W8901G.

i think what you can do is resetting the router to factory setting, which can be done by soft or hard reset. Then login to the router to apply the setting provided in previous page. As in my case, that is what i done to get my wireless function work, and it is still doing great until today! smile.gif

Hi,

I'm using this model as well. I bought it about 2 months ago, its very good from day 1 but it gives me headache lately, it disconnect the internet suddenly after using sometime, when I changed to another modem, its able to connect to the internet, so it means the problem is not from Streamyx.

I guess the router is too "tired" cause when I let it rest for few hours, it able to connect again. Does anyone here experience this kind of problem?

Reset ur router to factory setting and try thumbup.gif
and 1 thing that I always do in the place where you can input your Streamyx user name type :
yourusername@streamyx usually I type myusername@streamyx.com
So I can't access internet icon_idea.gif
Just need to type @streamyx only icon_rolleyes.gif

Just bought this model. I've the same problem. Sometimes it'll hang for a while, after that normal. It happens very frequently when I open utorrent. It's not slow connection problem, but cannot connect at all.

Already reset a few time. It'll start to disconnect when I open torrent. Maybe this router cannot handle heavy torrent. The download speed from torrent also considerably slower than my old trusty Levelone FBR 1461.
I plan to buy another modem router. Any good recommendation from u guy?

Not likely. Now I switch back to my old Levelone modem router. I get full speed for torrent and no disconnection problem.
I'll use this TP-Link router as my backup. If u guys have good recommendation for stable and reliable modem router for torrent, please let me know.
Thank you.

I've tried to limit my torrent download speed. The problem will start when utorrent is running. The webpage will not load but torrent is downloading as normal. I haven't played around with the QoS. Will try when I'm in good mood.
Thanks for your advice

try with another cable
or u can try to check the ip address again,
set the automatic ip at tcp/ip section.
open command prompt, type ipconfig
see what ip address and gateway number that appear
try to login to your modem with that gateway number.

I think you should set your ADSL type to "g-lite"

What is your adsl type setting?

TP-Link is better than D-Link, I have seen it, just ppl still believe in branding rather the actual performance.

I've recently bought the TD-W8901G modem/router and apparently managed to set it up according to the instructions in the earlier posts. But lately, I've been having some connectivity problems. Whenever I start up and P2P sharing (BitTorrent and WoW patch DL) or stream any videos, all data transfer screeches to a halt after a while. I am only able to surf regularly after a soft reboot on the router. It stops up again whenever I reopen BitTorrent or the WoW patch DL. I have been doing some pretty hardcore downloading for the past few days (with no problems) and I'm wondering if there's a DL limit with Streamyx?

As far as I could tell, there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with my settings but I could be wrong. Right now, there's a LAN (cable) connection to another computer and a wireless one to my computer. I get most of my problem when both computers are on and I figure it could be an IP conflict. I tried the method suggested in the manual but it doesn't seem to help. Any ideas?

IP conflict??

Are you using computer dail up or modem router dail up?Make sure you put the streamyx user name and password into modem. The VIP and VCI is 0 and 35.

Done and done. Does the computer using the cable connection hog up more bandwidth than wireless connected computers? The streamyx username and PW are set up on the modem. Whenever my dad boots up his comp (cable connection) I get serious lag/latency and sometimes disconnection. And he's not even surfing yet.

Just in case anyone is reading this to setup this modem.

log in router >> interface setup >> internet

then choose PVC2 from the drop down menu before filling in your info.

Hi Gurus...

I'm also encountering problems with this router(no sure whether is the router or OS). When i was using XP previously, i can easily ping my router. I've migrated to windows 7 now and i couldn't ping my router even i've set manually the TCP/IPv4 properties(IP add, subnet and gateway). I haven't tried to restore my router back to factory settings. See anyone of you encountered the same problem as mine. My wireless conection is working fine.

Please assist.. icon_question.gif icon_question.gif

Gotta admit I find this router a bit unusual, being a layman of course.

I still can't port forward this router properly. Not sure whats wrong with it. It was about many months ago and I think I just give up for the time being.

Anyone has done port forwarding with this device, I really appreciate if they can share the experience.

Cheers.
