for me the best zaku are those in seed series. actually all those seed series SD are good in term of articulation and posing posibility.

actually they done it before.

depending on what SD series you want to get. for sango series, painting is a must to make it look good. for AGE series, the colour separation is quite good and you do not need to paint it to make it look good. see below:
