there are fw 3.1.2 coming without the new bootrom, if you are advising others not to JB if their phones are with the new bootrom, why didn't I spotted any bootrom keyword on your "wall of text" previously?

it was only when i look through your previous post only i noticed this.

hi all sifus, my iphone 3g jb & unlocked currently running on 3.0.1.
is it advisable to upgrade to 3.1.2? any problems or unstable? mine is US set so it needs to be unlocked... tks..

Guys I have a quick question, If I would like to restore my Iphone to Factory settings using Itunes, Would i need to change back to my original Maxis Logo or could i just restore it back without doing so. The reason why I am asking this is cause my phone is Infected with the Rick Astley virus. Was thinking of restoring it with Itunes and rejailbreaking it tonight. Any help would be appreciated.

there's another way for u to del the ikee virus...

thanks bro, but i think i would prefer to restore the phone as a new iphone and rejailbreak it. Would it work? Sorry for being a bother.

Guys, As I read the thread in here, I understand that for a new 3GS comes with a new bootroom. Mine is a new 3GS from Maxis and i've jailbreak with Blackrain. I don seems to have the problem with the phone reboot. even I on/off the phone, i don need to jb it again. But my fren 3gs which we collected togather from maxiz are facing the prob like the rest. Does that mean Maxis gave me an older version phone? My phone will give me a prob of crashing my laptop when i plug it in, do you think is my laptop prob?

yours might comes with an older bootrom.

problem of laptop crashing might be due to conflicting .DLL files (laptop issue).

I recently update my iphone 3g 8gb to version 3.1.2 and successfully jailbreak it using blackra1n...
everyting works fine thumbup.gif ...it detects wifi, youtube and gps also working...
im using Maxis prepaid simcard...
the problem now, i cant get my 3g or even gprs or edge signal....

have a look ate the phone serial number . look at the 4th and 5th serial number , if it is less than 40 ( im not sure ) its the older bootroom. that 4th and 5th number indicate manufacturing weeks . mine is 41 thus indicating newer boot hence i can only tethered JB. sigh

Mine is 42 .. but my Blackrain JB doesnt give me the prob...

Yeah my cousin just told me about it yesterday and I did post up yesterday that I was affected by the IKEE (rick rolled) virus. A full restore did the trick (was aching to do a restore as well tongue.gif). But this new virus, I wish iohones have an Antivirus. I was working In f-secure before and they said they are working on an Iphone antivirus software. Hopefully soon smile.gif

the viurs only can get in if ure still using the default password for SSH (alpine). just change the password and u'll be alright.... blush.gif

Recent collected sets from Maxis cannot be jailbroken. (3sets fresh from seal packing)

After normal sim activation.

Ran Blackra1n

reboot into restore mode

tried also custom_restore (Pwng)

still same.
