Hi,
I'm new to the game but have not got much time to explore. I am playing a Night Elf Hunter and would like to ask:

What's the difference between Spellbook and Abilities versus Talents?

What are the difference between Hunter Spells and Hunter Talents? Can anyone recommend me a good build for Hunter or some forum / board / website which can guide me?

Spellbook is where all talents and abilities are found. You can refer to your spellbook to drag and drop the talents/abilities to your hotbar.

Abilities - general skill that all hunters / whichever class will have
Talents - skills that you gain if you invest points in the talent within the talent tree. Press "N" to see your talent tree.

As for hunter builds, there are 2 general ones I'd use on my hunter alt; beast mastery and marksman. If you're still leveling, grinding or farming for money, best is beast mastery. If you're raiding, probably marksman or hybrid marksman/beast mastery. Ask our resident hunters and they'll help ya out. Welcome to Azeroth where no one sleeps  biggrin.gif

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Abilities - does this mean we can max this out by learning from those Hunter NPC in the towns?
Talents - we cannot have have all talents, so we only choose whichever possible, is that correct?

Do we need to open certain abilities to have access to certain talents or they are not related?

Thank you all for replying to me so quickly. I just want to make some clarification.

Spellbook and Abilities can be learnt from the Class Trainer found is most towns. It can also be resetted for a cost but it gets more expensive each time. My question is, can we learn ALL the Spellbook and Abilities for the class? It only cost money, right? Most of the Spellbook and Abilities has some level requirement before we can learn them, that's why we usually choose the Filtered list when talking to the Class Trainer.

Talent is something we learn ourselves with points. We are given 61 points max and distributed accordingly among three-builds (eg: marksmanship, beast master, survival) each class or we can concentrate one just one-build (eg: marksmanship). Talent is used to improve Spellbook and Abilities, be it extra damage or lower cooldown time, etc. Most of the Talents are determine by how many talent points you have used for that particular build, right?

Is my understanding above, correct?

Last question: Can the talents on the "N"-window be resetted? For example, now I play marksmanship and later decide to go with beast mastery, so I want to reset. Is that possible?

SoLiD,
Thanks for your explanation but I'm a bit unclear with the examples you give. I have only recently joined WoW and barely have 2 hours of gameplay each day.

Can you give me an example for Hunter?

We have 61 Talent Points and for Hunters, when you press the 'N' key, the Talent window pops-up. We get to choose Beast Mastery, Marksmanship and Survival. I want to know if I wrongly clicked on one of these, can Talents be resetted?

Thanks for sharing your knowledge with me. I really appreciate it guys.

Just 3 more questions:
1. I see a lot of Beast Mastery Hunter or Survival Hunter builds. Other times Beast Master primarily with a little Marksmanship. Anyone of you know any good builds for Marksmanship (primary) with Beast Mastery?
2. What is a good profession for Hunters? Please recommend. I take so long just to understand Abilities and Talents.. I have zero idea about Professions.

What's a good race to play as a Rogue? I have always like Rogues / Assassin job class.

1. Not qualified to answer as I'm not a raiding hunter. My hunter is my farmer and pot maker laugh.gif
2. If you want quick money, then any gathering profession will do; herbalism, skinning or mining. Enchanting and jewelcrafting is only good if you invest in them to get the high level recipes or lucky enough to get recipes from mobs in instances/raids. If you want to make your own gear, then go for leatherworking. As there is a limit to 2 professions max at a time, you can either take two gathering profession, or for a hunter, take skinning and leatherworking.

Skinning to get the materials to level leatherworking, and leatherworking to craft your own armor at higher levels. Other combinations you may want to consider is herbalism and alchemy, gather herbs then make your own pots.

3. Race for a rogue, depends what you're looking for. All classes are the same, it's the races that brings extra dimensions. E.g. human has perception, so makes it easier for you to find stealthed targets, gnomes have escape artist which makes them immune to trapping effects (iirc), etc. Check up the race's racial ability and you can decide from there.

Ok, I see what you mean with skinning and leatherworking, combined, I can source my own leather and make my own clothes. Just like herbalism and alchemy to make pots. THank you for the clarification.

Questions about pets.

1. I manage to tame Nightstalker Rust (forgot the name) and then brought it to fight some monsters near Auberine. Then it died, how come I cannot revive it?

2. When I click on Feed Pet, do I need to have some kind of pet food in my inventory? If yes, where can I find / buy them?
