they never up date it.

In a PUG folks wont care about how much spellpower you have, or critic, or which spec you are for a warlock.

If they ask ONE thing, they will "how much dps?"

If you can pull your weight, they wont care how you do it, they will just be happy you can do good dps.

Aim for at the very least 1,5k dps consistent for pugs. Any less and I am personally starting to wonder why I bring the dps except for filling up the slot.

Critic is currently not nicely itemized, ie: the amount of dps you get from stacking critic is less than by stacking haste or spellpower, even for destro lock.

Personally I rank the stats: hit (until capped) > spellpower > haste > critic > spirit.

Spirit actually being not so far behind Critic since you have huge amount of it on the gear and 1/3 spirit = spellpower. I wont stack it purposely thought obviously.

I also enjoy haste quite a bit, my lock is spec 2/13/56.

1.3 spellpower with or without Fel Armour!? If it's with, it's damn low, I have more than 1.2K at level 70 self-buffed and I only reached T5

Yeah it doesn't matter what gear you have for DPS, just as long as that gear nets you the ability to pull past 1.2k, then you're okay. I've heared nightmares about people who do < 600dps at level 80.

i'll be honest, i never been to any heroics(not even the 70's)

i ask about the number because i fear i may become a burden in the pug. (even i try hard not to be 1)

i dno't have damage meter, so i won't hows my dps.

so, if i'm (from armory, currently not playing)880+spell damage, 15% crit, 0/17/54, will it do?

Recount runs quite smoothly in 5mans and it's a good meter to use in it's current version.

1.5K DPS is a good figure to start off with. The sooner the bosses + adds goes down, the better. Less chances of healing problems i.e. healer runs out of mana.

Oh about the hit cap thing, it's a general rule but for some classes + talents, there might not be a cap from gear. Maybe....

For warlocks it's 368 hit for meeting the cap, including the 3% talent from the affliction and/or destruction tree, that will be hard to get without some emblems gear so dun worry too much about it when starting up

Again, 880 spelldamage, with or without fel armour?

In both case it's damn low without offense, you can get some green or blue weapon with 300 spell damage on it pretty easily, that's like 1/3 of your overall spell damage already.

Do you have an armory link or something?
I would suggest you try to do some quest to get some good items (Storm peaks have some awesome rewards but it's long quest lines)

I was talking about 1,5k dps. A bit less would be fine also.

When i use pingplotter to ping my realm, how come the ping from pingplotter its way to different from the ping in the game???

The ping from pingplotter i got is like 600ms, whereas in game ping is 1k.... Any ideas???

the numbers are from my armory, so i guess there no fel armor buff or anything in my 880 spell damage.

i have already completed 39/100 in storm peaks, and 79/140 in ice crown, sold most of the gear for gold... hope there still better gear left.

however 0quest complete in sholazar basin(coz i hate the nesingwarys) any good stuff in there?

or perhaps its better that i farm rep(daily) with wyrmrest and kirin tor and buy stuff from them?

so what are the suggested spell damage number in heroics?

btw, how do i know my dps without any addon? i don't trust addon. too much key logging happening.

then again for your case, 400ms difference of ping result = bad routing (more overheading as the data are traveled ineffeciently)

You can ask any of your party members that have "Recount" to link it in the party chat. From there you can see your DPS. Btw with "Recount" install in your PC, it'll provide alot of details regarding you DPS, how much you miss, crit, highest hit, average and much more."Recount" can be considered as trustworthy addons since all DPS must have that to improves and maximize their DPS .

are your saying that my current gear not really that suck, all i need to do is spend "some amount" of golds+grinding to enchant+socket them, then i'm "almost" good to go Heroic?

where do i get "good" trinket? the ones that purchase by honor points?

well atleast i won't worry much about gems, my jc guild mate owe me some favour. all i need to do is farm some ore for him.
enchant on the other hand, is expensive.

more effort, in general, yes. think bout it, one socket if you put in a cheap ass 2-6gold runed blood gem, multiply it by all ur sockets (assuming you ignore socket bonuses, which you would as ur having no red sockets), you get like 50-70? spell power. then enchants to weap/glove alone would be like some 100+

they easily add up you see. honor = pvp. heroics = pve. generally you dont want to mix them. for trinkets, a good starting point is the heroism badge, then again you havent started heroics, so the only option is either expensive epic BOEs, or just quest items/dungeon (prolly non heroics) drops

being jc/enchant doesnt matter, you could've taken up a profession that could earn you more money potentially better than jc/enchant and not only you'd still be able to fullfill your enchanting/jc needs, you'd still earn money for other purposes. JC/enchant specific players are mainly arena players who wanna min-max everything on their stats.

Curse.com can be futile without this NoScript!, make sure you implemented it within your Firefox just to be safe. In WoTLK wearing all blues can get you into any H pretty easily, but if you put more effort in gemming you gear up + enchant, it'll certainly attract people to invite you more for H's IMO. In addition you can get an easy epic gear from Rep itself such as [Signet of Hopeful Light] [Robes of Crackling Flame] [Belt of Dark Mending] [Sandals of Crimson Fury]


A good site for aiming you gear MaxDPS. (Note that only Afflication is update for WoTLK)

I would assume 880 spell power is low as my 71 priest with just instances/quest blues/greens have 759 spell power. I doubt 9 level difference is only 150 spell power

Looking at your armory, i can see you've been collecting quest rewards only. And you even have some low 70s gear still. Replace em! There's quite afew good trinkets you can get from quests that total could contribute more than 100 spell power just from the equip bonus. Did you get those or have you vendored em .

I would suggest running some REGULAR lvl 80 instances for gear (UP, CoS, HoS, HoL and Occulus.) Reg occulus has a nice dps caster trinket there. Once you achieve 1.1k - 1.3k spell damage, Start with the easier Heroics (Nexus, UK, VH) which should net in better gear and emblems.

If you're getting recount, use it to see if you can achieve 1.5k dps before hitting heroics. You can use the various available dummies in cities to test your dps. Another mod ill suggest is ratingbuster (i think that's the name) which allows easy comparison between gears. Oh and use wowhead.com or even the wow armory to find out where and what gears drop for your upgrades. Hope this helps
