hey guys im pretty new to GPS apps on the iphone, but am seriously thinking of getting 1, browsed through the app store and saw two gps apps that's quite catching,
- papago - tomtom
by price comparison, I'd prefer to papago as it's cheaper, just wondering, how does this work? they're both by satellites? means I do not need to activate 3g/wifi/data to start the navigation?
and another question is, after downloading the app, it's download-and-use or it'd require further registration/map downloading or so on so forth?
sincere apology if these questions are answered and asked before but really hope some1 cud help me out of this dilemma now. appreciate it. thanks

Papago m7 pro has this function called 3D junction view which is a great help.. I'd recommend going for the pro version

As far as im concerned, ppg does not consume data, because this app is satellite based.. Even when u start up initially ur start up location us determined by the satellite, so no data is required, i use my ppg app all the time, and im not on data plan.. And when i use it, i off 1.wifi 2.3g 3.data roaming 4.cellular data
And it still works!

QUOTE(cognac @ Apr 9 2011, 11:45 AM) after get papago hor.....feel its abit.....over rated ler, not sure if i'm the problem or papago does not have the features i want. firstly i think the resolution is way too rough.not so nice compare to googlemap. definately google map needs data connection while papago does not need it. secondly, is there any way to browse the alternative routes and select them? hope i won't cause any offence to papago fans...just want to discuss and maybe get some tips... yes ppg's layout sucks, but in the end, it's detailed enough to get me where i want to go, despite having never been to that particular place before. and also the fact that it uses MFM ensures that the maps and routes are always up to date (as compared to other brands). in the end, would you prefer a pretty layout which lacks accuracy, or a bad looking layout but is always accurate?
