all GPS apps have voice navigation.

But if you are buying iphone solely for the GPS then better not. Cause iphone as a GPS device is not as good as specialized gps devices like garmin.

But if you are buying iphone for it being iphone and then want to use it secondary as GPS then okay.

Ok thanks, i am looking for the GPS as a tool which might come in handy (hence secondary) on emergencies. Of coz nothing beats the standalone GPS devices.

I am still unsure how to update the latest map without JB the phone.

Anyone can offer any help??

Been reading earlier posts and it seems only way for non JB phone is to wait for updates via itunes?

Downloaded papago pro and yup, using mfm map dated middle of last year doh.gif

I have try before trying to update the maps on a non-jb iphone 3gs by using
i) ifunbox, iphone explorer etc ... does not work as on a non-jb iphone, cannot access to the install papago directory to replace old maps with new maps. For non-jb iphone, you are only limit to certain user directory of your iphone.

ii) modifing the installation ipa, ie., replacing the old maps in the ipa with new ones from MFM. However, itunes will detect that the ipa is tampered with and the installation will not be successful.

Hope this help.

Thanks for the feedback bro, i am not going to JB my phone for now.. will wait for the next map updated via itunes

Took the papago pro for a spin and the navigation was ok but certain parts the processing was a bit slow but overall, it is more than i can ask for seeing that other GPS apps offer very outdated maps

As the tom tom vs papago dedate goes on, i was standing outside my home after dinner and switched on gps and papago and tried to lock onto my location as my map was showing a different location.

I actually stood outside for 20 minutes under a clear blue sky and i never got a satellite lock. Amazing. I think if i stood outside for another ten minutes i might not still get a lock and my battery would be running out of juice.

Is the Iphone integrated GPS really this poor?

the junction view will pop-up automatically when there are really a few junctions.

i see, nothing to do la with the split view option in the settings. I guess i have not used it in big city yet.

Thanks for the explanation. Much appreciated icon_rolleyes.gif

Used papago this morning and I loved the junction view function. Brilliant. I'm now convinced buying the pro was a good decision.

btw guys how ur signal tho? at penang?

because i always get two bar from sygic....

and inside car driving seems like the signal cannot catch up i driving sleep.gif"

and always the arrow not follow the road haha like im flying from sky like that
*
signal was ok but got some lag lah... probably around two seconds or so, i used it from serdang rest area to jalan kuchai lama... was accurate all the way and signal was good BUT...

here's my observation, when the phone heats up, charging stops and hence i wont recommend usage of papago on our iphones for an extended period of time, one is the phone will be bloody hot and battery will run out as charging will stop when it gets hot.

anyone got any ideas to solve this? hold the phone in one hand against the air-cond vent? hahaha, might work but dangerous while driving

True, I guess Papago does not show signal bar unless I'm wrong. But signal lock was fast for me and never had problem with lost signal even driving under flyovers.

Still trying to figure out a way to solve this overheating charging problem.

True enough, the GPS in iphone can't be used for long as when it gets hot, iphone will automatically stop charging in order to cool down, so a piece of advice to papago users, always ensure yr iphone is fully charged and only start using when u really need it.

A stand alone Garmin device is of coz anytime more reliable like what kc3832 said. But the papago is good to have for short distances and not bad as a back up in the event of emergencies.

Just tried it this morning on my way to work, personally the new update is ok for me, the slight lag is not really an issue and the navigation works fine. Signal lock was within 5 seconds under a very cloudy sky.

As whether got bug or not, i m not sure but the fellas at maction will do something about it if there is. Meanwhile, ppg is ok for me.
