papago is nothing compared to garmin.. it lags and hangs when u are in housing area, rows of shops area(like ss2).

compared to others, papago is still the best

Yup, about time Garmin came into the iphone scene, will make PPG shiver in their spine. Only hope when garmin becomes available, the price would be competitive.

No, basically no data connection is needed as its solely dependable on the gps chipset in d phone.
3g/wifi is only required to reveal ur position asap.
In other words, tomtom papago etc. Doesnt require data plan to work

if Papago can improve their software robustness, then it would be very much better. I hate their laggy interface.

dont think papago can do anything about it. Garmin rules! cant wait for their arrival for iPhone!

That is not GPS device problem already. Smart-Tag (Touch'nGo) will not work either.

This is due to V-Kool is too good a product, that it blocks out most of the infrared radio spectrum, which includes the range for mobile phones and smart-tag devices.

That is why you may see people wind-down their car windows and holding the smart-tag outside their windows when passing toll plaza  tongue.gif  You may need to do that with your GPS device. Good luck on current rainy days  sweat.gif

Or, cut a hole on the V-Kool .

will it be harder to talk on the phone in a car with v-kool? just curious

My smart tag and iPhone gps still work on vkool elite, and the house autogate. Just harder to detect, go toll always show tiada smart tag then only detect

wat u mean show tiada smart tag den detect..?

Indeed, any GPS app will suck the batt juice because of the GPS chip...not the app.

@dtdw

I thought I read GARMIN not gonna develop apps for 3rd party device anymore...its GMXT is no longer on going.....from now on, it's all just gonna be in their proprietary GARMIN device....correct me if I am wrong but we wont be seeing garmin on our iphones..

I prefer Tom Tom over Papago, Papago is too resource intensive, plus it has very weird routes, keep rerouting to some unknown area, not really recommended as it made me lost in kl city several times. However Tom Tom map is kinda outdated  sad.gif
